going by the feedback from guys on here and on other forums, they are very good poles, not much difference between them and gardiners, Nat Jones did a good comparison review on his acs forum, well worth a read

I am happy to say that Gardiners and Elite are not the same company and the poles not the same poles and are not even made in the same factory - which would be difficult as the Gardiner range is made from bespoke components manufactured in 3 different countries.

We introduced lateral clamps to the WFP world back in 2007 with the first SLX, these used alloy lateral clamps. Then in March 2009 we released our unique and 'in-house' designed innovative thermoplastic lateral clamps with an 8 pole line-up to go with the new clamps. These were at the time unique and original and were granted, in April 2009, Registered Design Status by the 'European Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market - Trade Marks & Designs'. About a year later Ionic's brought out their 'innovative' transverse clamp which is a similar mechanical arrangement and some clients have even commented they look the same - according to their 2010 brochure these transverse clamps represented a 'step forward in pole design'.

Then about 12 months ago a Chinese manufacturing firm started advertising a lateral clamp pole on the trade market. In this country one retailer is selling these as the 'Elite' pole. I would not say that their clamps are a copy as they are a lot more bulky and operate slightly differently - time will tell as to their longevity and operation. However looking at the range of sizes this firm is offering it is easy to see where they get their size inspiration from   These poles are also being promoted in Hong Kong by an Australian chap called Perry Tait (or Michael Maait, depending on which name he is using currently).

Having compared other offerings though, I am still very happy with our 'own design' pole range and the way they perform. Good ideas will generally be replicated by others and happens throughout the business world. The key is being true to your own design ethos and then making those designs the best you can.

There was a really good picture posted the other day by Nat Jones. It compared the clamps on the slx and the elite. The elite clamps were over twice the size of the slx. I'm pretty sure that the effect of smaller clamps will be more usable pole for the closed size and less weight. I really haven't had many problems with slx clamp adjustments, although if there is a big change in temperature I notice that this sometimes means the clamps need fine-tuning, but that can be done in seconds.

You're right Simon. I had a facelift carbon & the clamps were about 3 to 4" in total length each. You only need four sections to add a foot to the closed length!

hello mate defo not a waste of money had my 35ft Elite for 4 wks now and loving it a really light a rigid pole easy to take sections off in seconds without much adjustment to clamps

In order to use as a  smaller pole if desired changed my working day totally go to nats forum at www.acsforums.com  and look at SLX vs ELITE  FOR COMPARISON,

I think that's were people get the idea that poles should be allot cheaper thinking its the carbon that's the real cost,  when I'm sure the real cost to make them is in the tooling etc for the clamps...

Having had a demo of the Elite poles, and as a fan of Gardiners, I can give you an idea of the poles from a Gardiners fan boy bias...

The pole is strong, robust and as light as you would expect from a CF pole.

The size of the clamps restricts the closed length of the pole yes, but the pole is a bit cheaper than an SLX.

In summary, it's a reasonably priced CF pole, that will do a good job for you.

They are not a direct equivalent to Alex's poles, so its unfair to comapre them as such.
