Carpet Cleaner needs help!
« on: October 10, 2005, 04:29:56 pm »
Hi guys

I'm usually on the CC and gen cleaning sections but need your expert help and opinions...

A customer has asked me to clean the inside of their conservatory (windows and frames/sills)

There are 16 windows with 16 openers above,
1 door with two large windows plus sills all round and all the internal frames.
Also in ceiling there are 35 slightly frosted panes of lightly corrugated glass???

The owner has been smoking cigars in there.

So it would be of immense help if you could advise with the best price and time frame and best product to use.

Kind regards

Martin, I'd really advise subbing that out to a local window cleaner.

Inside a conservatory? Smoked in?
You don't want to know how hard and frustrating that is. >:(

If it's also a sunny day you'll have recurring nightmares for the rest of your life!

Price-wise? In excess of £20, maybe lots more. ;)

Roger.

£88

£70 for the roof and £18 for the rest unless the frames are yellow with smoke the i would either forget it or charge £36 for the windows and door and at least £70 - £100 for the roof depending on how yellow it is.

Smoke is 'orrible! It runs yellow and is sticky. Those ceiling panes bother me - getting tar out of frosted glass is a real time consumer.

Walk away or charge £90 plus.
It's a game of three halves!

I think you've got at least a good couple of hours work there.

£60'ish is what I'd go for but it depends on whether the customer is a valued one or whether you really want the job.

I'd use Mr Muscle on the frames and fairy or gg4 or similar on the glass. For the roof glass/plastic, I'd use a strong solution, wet it with a normal applicator/mop, brush it in with a soft brush and cloth it off. One advantage of plastic roofs is they don't have to be perfect to look ok. ;D

If it's sunny or the sky is bright, I'd advise wearing a good pair of sunglasses.

Also make sure you have a good pair of overalls on or some really old clothes.
When your cleaning above your head like that there is no way of escaping the muck that can run down ???

Also, a good large dust sheet/cloth.

We use an old bed spread which is thick heavy cloth.

It only takes one or two filthy drops of mucky water on a carpet or piece of furniture...

The last conservatory we done we moved everything out into the garden but there is 3 of us so it was quick and easy.

Hi

Many, many thanks for all your help & support.

The client is a letting agent client of mine so of course want to do a good job, I was thinking around the £75 mark and I will be looking at at least 2 hours.

Luckily the floor is tiled but there is a sofa in there.

rosskesava I have seen you around town, will try to introduce myself if I see you in person?

Thanks again guys (& gals)

If you see us - do stop for a chat.

What van do you drive and have you got any sign writing on it?
