flakey plastic bits in my tank!
« on: June 07, 2011, 12:20:03 am »
finally got a tank for my van(350L) today.so after a full days work i came home to find the tank left with a neighbour and 100m of microbore and hosereel! ;D ;D ;D

so i put together the hosereel and put all the relevant connectors on and hose then ratchet strapped the tank to the van floor and screwed in the tank elbow.filled the tank up then noticed all these little flakey plastic bits in it.my own fault i should of checked and swilled it out first.

ive checked the tds and it doesnt seem to affect it.the drop pipes from my trolley both have mesh filters on them so probably wont be a problem.i will  take the tank out when i have a spare day although girlfriends out of hospital and she needs me more than ever at the moment so it wont be for a few weeks plus i have loads of work to do.

have any of you guys had bits like this is your tank and does it cause problems?

many thanks in advance guys

regards

Yes loads of bit ,no problems if the pump has a filter.
Spit and polish

Get a little fishing net from the pet shop and skim them off.

My first tank had loads from where I drilled holes for a couple of tank connectors, the prefilter on the pump eventually collected them all.

On my current tank I hoovered them out before filling, if you've mesh filters on your pipes they shouldn't cause you any problems
