would you have taken her money

had a custy today who gave me a box of WRIGHTS cream cakes 7 in total very fresh aswell lovely jubbly  ;),

its only a terraced house £5 a clean but she still owed me from last month aswell so £10 i was thinking of just charging her a fiver as she was so nice in giving me these cakes but ended up taking the tenner,after i felt a bit guilty

just wondered what you guys would of done

you terrible person you,     that poor woman left those cakes out in the rain, I dont think that she can make it cos it took so long to bake it and she'll never have that recipe again.

You did the two cleans, so were entitled to be paid for them.

It's not as if she didn't owe you, or you were being greedy. I'm an old softy at times, and feel a bit guilty when custys are generous to me, but in this case I don't feel you have anything to feel guilty about. She obviously likes you!

don't feel guilty - you didn't ask to be paid in cake  ;D
They might have been over the use by date and she was trying to get rid of them anyway

did seem a bit weird the cakes were in a box with a sticker label  sealing it but with a use by date of 02 december 2012  ??? seems along time for cream cakes,they are exceeding good tho  ;)

You should have charged her extra for the time off you will need for the heart bypass.
Seriously though, I found that getting too friendly with customers was not good for my business in the longer term.  I have found that a reasonably friendly demeanour is OK but always remember that it is business.  That way you can increase prices when needed and not get sucked into doing extra work for nothing (unless you want to of course)..
