Sacked for charging a custy twice!
« on: June 06, 2011, 03:47:49 pm »
Mrs M just enclosed a snotty little note because my "slip" said she owed two lots instead of one:-

I do not owe you for March 31st clean - I paid you on 7th April, cheque no. XXXX.

I enclose a cheque for May 31st clean alone.

I no longer require your service.

Wot! For 11 quid?  ;D 30 pieces of silver may have been tempting. Anyhoo I have posted her a letter in response and if there are any further developments I will let you know.

Mrs M has probably just had a bad day and decided to 'kick' her window cleaner.

Let's hope her next one is Trippy; that'll show her what she's lost!  ;D

And Gold, sort out your administration!!!

I have a custy who, 2 months ago, I had to convince had actually paid me twice!

He didn't believe it until I showed him my book, showing the duplicate payment.

I have made the (genuine) mistake of forgetting to write in a payment on occasion. I was put right very diplomatically. I have never been sacked for making this mistake though.

Malc, she must have been looking for an excuse to give you the bullet.

John.
Being diplomatic is being able to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Did a conservatory treatment clean last week, gave the lady my quote when I first went to have a look, which was £115.00, she phoned the next day to ask for the work to go ahead and again I said it will be £115.00, anyway finished the clean and put all my kit away in the van, rang on the doorbell for payment and she comes out with her cheque book writes me a cheque and Say's that was £150.00 wasn't it?  :o  ;)

I don't believe some of you guys sometimes!

A custy asked me to push a small length of guttering back in place last week. The clips holding it were loose and the wind had moved it, so the inner end was away from the flashing under which it should have been situated.

She offered me a fiver just for doing this (2 minute) task. I refused to take it.
My moral is that when you do a good turn for someone, you get so much more back over time than if you got one over them in the short term.

Sorry if you find me odd, but if I quoted £115, I wouldn't have taken a penny more unless the custy knew the price was £115, and expressly said that I deserved the extra 35 and insisted that I accepted it.

And we wonder why we have a reputation for dishonesty!  ::)

I used to think that Johnny. Until one sweet little old lady who I used to do little extras for (mending guttering, free conny roof clean, bringing her bins in etc etc) dumped me for another w/c, who was a pound cheaper ???

We've had a couple like that. They are only 'nice' exactly as long as it suits them.

Good point. I know it does happen, but that may actually be a blessing in disguise. Unappreciative/disloyal custys often make way for better ones, we hope!

I am very fortunate, as my work is now concentrated on 3 villages, in particular one village where I have become very well known (even some non-customers pass the time of day with me), and I have acquired a reputation in their eyes that has ensured  that I am kept busy and well looked after by the lovely people I serve.

John.
