the SLX is a great pole despite falling to bits after 2week  ;D

6months on and 8 reels of tape later its still doing its job well  8)

My SLX25 is now 2 years old - used every working day and still has all the original clamps and has been 100% trouble free.

I think you have been unlucky Dave but using tape as a repair is perhaps not the best idea - especially as you seem to have got through 8 reels!!   I believe the suggested repair method if required is the use of a good two part epoxy resin.

Gardiners supply a good one and I'm sure they would be happy to advise you.

Cheers

Clamps easier to use. No adjustment needed.

Seeing as you have both poles, can you do us a favour and take a picture of the poles next to each other focusing on the clamps. I'm interested in comparing the sizes.

I thought the elite had an adjustment tool a bit like the tucker tool of old or the Allen key for the mk1 slx, IMO a thumb adjustment is better.

Yeah, I would also be interested to see both together. Could you do it Thermo?

Not a great pic,.. but you get the idea. Elite clamps are adjustable with an alen key,.. and in the 2 weeks I used the Elite I did need to adjust the clams a little,.. the SLX doesn't seem to need more adjustment though.

Thank you very much Nat well done.

I think that over a long pole the clamps would really make a difference, you would have a lot of pole wastage in comparison, but maybe not a massive issue on a 4 section pole.

I've been using the 25ft Elite for a few weeks now and have got to say that it's a fantastic pole to work with, VERY light and takes a lot of the physical effort out of a full days work, they are expensive but worth every penny, which I have no regrets spending at all.

cheers - but what poles have you used to compare it to mate??

not that expensive compared to slx tho are they

Sorry should have said been using the 25ft Xtreme not the Elite!  :o

We also use the SLX 30 which is a great pole to work with and have had a good few years use out of them so very happy with the purchase.

That said the Xtreme is a lot kinder on the arms and you will definatly notice a lot less fatigue by the end of the working week, I'm very pleased with the Xtreme pole and will be replacing the SLX poles with them when the time comes.
