thanks, think if i can manage a 27 foot brodex all day i can live with a 25 slx easy and the closed length sounds great , and will get a sl2 for everything else as ive got the odd 40 + foot window and some nearly 50 +on one job so sounds ideal

i find the clx clamps a bit cheap when extending im always tightening them up.

It sounds like the barrel nuts need replacing on these clamps if they are needing constant adjustment. Each barrel nut has a little locking-part on the end of thread which holds on to the bolt. With age this can become worn and will not hold the bolt in exactly the same place during use. Replacing this barrel nut usually will cure this issue. I'm sure if you give the Office a call they can sort this for you.

The slx will feel like a pencil compared to the Brodex!! I came from a facelift carbon to the slx & the difference even here was amazing.

If you can streach the budget, a 48Xtreme would be a superb choice for you other pole. Broken down, the Xtreme then feels like a pencil again against the slx!

In use they are very much the same. The Xtreme however is telescopic- you can still remove sections though, it doesn't have to be used with all sections on, all the time. The SL is modular (push together sections) & so is slower & more hassle setting up & taking down. Although both poles are extremely strong in use the sections of the SL are more fragile when not in use & are so light can easily blow away with a breeze if you take one off & lay it on the ground.

Both superb poles but the Xtreme takes the lead with usability. All IMO of course having owned & used both.

I'll add to that- you can also add extension sections to the Xtreme to go higher than the SL, I have one extension section which makes my Xtreme approx 53ft.

I have used quite alot of poles and i bought a few Ionics Swift poles, expensive but absolute quality mate, really are superb.

If you decide to go for 45 and above at any point get intouch with me and i know someone who makes superlight poles that are excellent.

I have used the superlight that i bought from him, at almost 90ft, quite awkward, but he is designing something to add to it to give it maximum strength without the bend., which will make it without doubt in my opinion the best out there.

thanks archer . I will do. Gonna try get my hands on the much sought after slx first to see what the fuss is all about. But then i will be looking to replace my 45 foot beast with something that goes as high as possible as light as can be so yours sounds good. 90 foot , that sounds like hard work. Must be a decent pole.
