I am currently using a brodex 27 ft pole for pretty much all my wfp work, i use it at full stretch a few times a day over connies and 2nd storey stuff etc

I want to get some thing lighter, but i dont want an array of poles , the main problem with the brodex despite its weight ! is the closed length , its the same as a big 45 foot one i have, so i have to change for downs, or does everyone do that

What poles for everyday would you suggest?

A CLX-27 would be a major step in the right direction,.. much lighter & a very good closed length. Quite cheap too,.. but possibly out of stock!

25 ft Gardiners SLX it will feel like nothing after using that Brodex pole

18 foot slx is even better.  It does the majority of my domestic work and I have a 27 foot CLX for higher stuff.

agree with tosh here.
 get 2 poles,
 18 ft slx, does most of my work, and keep your brodex brick, for the odd higher window, or get an slx 30 as well.

My leaning so far was to a clx 18 foot and a slx 35, the for any odd higher stuff in time get a modular carbon pole/sl2 or similar

But is the difference between the clx/slx 18 that much in weight to justify another £100?

Ive never used the clx, so cant comment,
All i can say is that you will be using the 18ft slx for most of your working day, on the average domestic, so get the lightest and most rgid.
Again i cant comment on the clx, but the slx really lasts, ive had mine for 2 yrs now and its still going strong.
When i used 17ft extels, they only lasted 6 months, so in reallity ive saved money.

The SLX 22 just has an additional section.  Same closed length but a bit heavier.

It's physics.  You add another section to an already existing pole and it has to be heavier unless you change the material. 

I'm not too sure what the problem is with making a comparison between 2 products and then making a decision based on weight.  That was the original posters problem, the pole being too heavy and wanting something lighter.  From what I've read the Elite is a very good pole, just 20% heavier than the SLX at a comparable length, and I recall someone had an issue with one breaking, but other than that I think people have been satisfied.

My advice to Sean is to buy as light as you can afford.  If you could stretch to an SLX 25 extreme it would be money well spent, if not go for the standard SLX 25.  The lighter and more rigid the pole the faster you can work with it, and I think that within a few months the pole will earn the extra you pay for it.  If you do just 1 extra house a day at £10 because of working faster, over the course of a month or 2 the pole could be paid for.

I thought the same, but was advised to go for the SLX because it's far stiffer than a CLX.  I have a CLX 27 and it's great for occasional use, but I don't like the wobble or the ribbed surface.

I have two poles now.

A SLX25 which does everything from ground to 30ft.

A Xtreme 48 for every thing above that.

Slx 25 is fine for downstairs, I've been doing it for the past 3 years. Only about 5ft closed.

Personally I use a 25ft carbon fibre pole for the majority of my work and then a carbon fibre 48ft for anything the 25ft cannot reach. I find this combination works well for me. I know of many other window cleaners who use a 22ft for the majority and then a 30-40ft for everything else.

No, it's a short closed length, I use a plastic angle adaptor & a swivel. I can do any window regardless of how low or tight the space is this way.

I find the extra reach of the 25ft pole of much more benefit than saving a few grammes of weight with a shorter slx.

i find the clx clamps a bit cheap when extending im always tightening them up.
