Hi all, getting nearer to starting work again after my 'little' stroke ! got my van and equipment and had a few hours with a mate today to see how it's done. What I'd like to know is a question regarding poles. I have dug deep and put my name down for a SLX 25 with a carbon gooseneck and superlight brush but I watched this morning and my mate changed the angle of his brush a lot of times depending on which window he was cleaning and the different angles. Is it going to be a problem with the gooseneck on normal domestic stuff (over extensions/conservatorys) or is it ok ? Thanks, Martin.

This is something that I've noticed too.  Although the SLX is light enough to step back to increase the working angle (especially for brushing sills without scratching the brush stock along it), sometimes it is not possible to step back.  Also, I often adjust the brush angle for ground floor work (I usually have the brush at a shallower angle).  I would definitely suggest investing in a few angle adaptors (you will need spares as they break occasionally).  If you order these from Gardiner's, they were doing some very cheap ones.  Avoid.  Buy their more expensive ones.  The cheaper ones break too easily.  In fairness to Gardiner's, they have been up front about this which is why they are selling them cheap.  Also, it is possible to buy extension pieces for the angle adaptors (not sure if Gardiners do these).  I got my extensions from a company called Tecbuk (anagram of bucket) and they seem just fine.
You may find a better way or someone else may make a better suggestion.  Just saying the way I've done it myelf.
Gardiner's carbon goosenecks are fine but may leave you struggling for the right angle if work space is limited.

I personally wouldnt use my carbon gooseneck on my 25ft pole as it would be a pain too use on windows down the side of houses, also on windows above connys etc, I use it on my 35ft slx as this is mainly used for commercial, the thing with the gooseneck is the brush is attached too the gooseneck so you couldnt just take the brush off and put on a normal plastic gooseneck, id definatly order a brush with stock on with plastic angle adapter first but if youve got the money get the gooseneck as a extra...

Ive been using the 10" carbon g/neck on my 18ft slx, and i like it.
I never/rarely changed the angle on the plastic g/neck, and i find the extra reach of the carbon g/neck more of an advantage than a hinderance

i use the the anle adaptor for 99 % of work - being able to change the brush angle is extremely important for me
and believe this is a key factor to avoiding spotting from frames and vents where the brush is at the wrong angle and
dislodges dirt etc...

if you have tight spaces and awkward windows then a non adjustable gooseneck will make cleaning these windows
difficault.

as Paul i have an extention piece for the very rare occasions that the standard angle adaptor cant quite reach
and a cost of around 8 quid it's execellent.

if i had a lot more of jobs like this then i'd get a c/f gooseneck - but not for standard day to day stuff

I'm sure i could count on one hand the amount of times i change angles in a month. Never seen anyone else need to do it either.

I don't use a gooseneck on my poles, and very rarely change the angle of the brush.. maybe once or twice a day at the most!!

I do it all the time, I guess its what you get used to. Easier to change the angle than hold the pole at a funny angle.

I have to admit i never really used to change the angle. Then the flipfast came on the market and changed my way of working.

I probably change the angle 5-8 times  a day. Mostly for conservatorys that have limited access because they have been built pretty close to a fence. That and fascia cleaning which needs a sharper angle.

Bloody hell ! I'm confused again ..... Just thought it would be difficult when trying to get over big extensions/connys if I had the gooseneck and no way of changing angle. Not sure what to do now
