was wondering what your average water consumption per day is? am hoping to be up and running with a trolley system over next week or so, but what do you guys average say for tops only and those who do whole house with wfp?
have got 8 25 litre containers that i am planning to fill and take each day how long should/could i get out of each 25?

8 X 25L's will last you all day 8.30 till  5 ish

you should be able to a full day with 8 25 l containers doing ups,as long as you have water ready at home to fill for the next day and your ro can cope you should be fine,Gaz.

so is that doing ups only or would that last doing downs too?
i have two 1000 ibc's at home to store water in so wont run out there!

I take 8 x 25's with me and unless I do an early commercial job I can get 9 - 4.30 pm from them doing tops and bottoms but I usually do front doors and patio doors's by squeegee - especially front doors if the customer is home.

If I start a commercial at say just after 7 am I'm occasionally used up by about 2.30 if I do tops and bottoms, so at about lunch time I start doing bottoms the trad way if I'm making a long day of it. (Anything after 4pm in those circumstances).

On my first day of water-fed poling I used around 12 to 15 liters of water per house (small 3-bed semis) doing tops and bottoms. 

I set my shurflo backpack to the lowest pump setting to scrub all the frames, then came back and washed each pane of glass, then turned up the pump setting to the next level to get a 'squirt' and gave a quick rub and rinsed.

No-ones phoned yet to complain!

I'm not after making big bucks at the moment; just getting experience and finding out what does a good job.

How much water would you use for an average 3 bed-semi?

Ex council or rabbit hutch type of semi - 10-12 litres

Double bay semi 1930's type - 15 litres

Big posher double bay semi with a few side windows etc - 18 - 20 litres

(I usually do glass in front doors by squeegee)

For me a standard 3 semi will use a minimum of 15 litres.
you may well use less on occasion, but on other occasions you will use more.
Ergo; a good rule of thumb is 15l per average semi.
With continuous usage throughout the day, doing house after house, doing all of the windows, you are going to need closer to 300 litres minimum. That'll do you approx 20 houses.
Not all houses are identical of course, some will be smaller, some will be larger, but you get the idea.

I carry eight 25l containers with me, and that mostly lasts me the whole day, but a couple of times a week I'll have to go back to top up. A good excuse for a coffee and some toast

Which is roughly the same rate of use as me Matt, I just do all of the windows though.

Ian, do you find the customers complain that you do the downstairs, as i was worried 9 quid for 10 mins work might get the customers back up etc

Is it okay to mix and match windows, meaning to do some one month with WFP then the following with a squeegie?

I plan to do tops only when working with Wor Lass till I improve my water carrying capability, then after dropping her off (she finishes about 2.30 pm to walk the dog and pick the Little Un up from school) clean 'tops and bottoms' with my WFP.

Obviously when I drop her off, I can pick up some more pre-filled water barrells.

i would say not really

as the first clean you do with WFP takes off the old detergant, thus you will be putting it back on again then

some1 else might have another answer though

though saying that, if you use GG, GG isnt s.posed to leave much detergant behind
