I have one lad working for me on 1 day a week. I pay him £6.50 per hour + 15% of days turnover. In hindsight I am paying him alot but dont regret it as he is good, honest and I can depend on him but future employees will work under him for probably £6 per hour and 10%. I will need to look into it more though......

It depends on what his personal turnover is on top of your normal daily amount.

The total should be less than 50% of his part of the days turnover.

If your daily is £200 and with him it is £300 then his total amount should be £50 which is nearly his £6.50 for 8 hours.

Do you want him knowing your turnover?

Tell us what your daily average is with and without him and we can advise.

Had lads working for me for past 20 years. I've tried everything.

My favorite is a set monthly wage for x hours and a quarterly bonus based on profit share.

I done a post some weeks ago and still have not made my mind up

BUT

My thinking at the mo...

I pay £8 a hour and if all work is done within that month then he gets a £75 bonus!

And today! have been thinking of...any gutter cleans he gets 30% or 40% yes high but they are just extras anyway!

The other employee that works with me £7 a hour and £50 bonus if he turns up every day within that month

You do need to give an idea of turnover as otherwise we can't work out what is a lot and what is a little!!

I just work them hard for at least 5 and a half days per week - normally doing 10 plus hours per day.

They are too tired to be worrying about what bonus they will get ;D
