EWC he has give lots of advice on here, in this section, some of it I have heeded, especially working in sub zero conditions trad he proved helpful for me and I am sure he has helped lots of others.

Here is another word Radge ;D you know what it means ;)

now stop being one ;) you started a post the other day and you didn't like the answers, maybe no one agreed with you. you make a valid point on having customers with mortgages etc, so do something about it, target elderly retired customers with no mortgage and a fixed income, or wealthy customers that aren't worried, or run of the mill oldies in council estates. Take steps now if you are worried, I personally targeted this type in the first place so I didn't need to worry, I also don't overcharge and keep my overheads and prices reasonable.

Interest rates may go up, but they are at an all time low and they were far higher before it all went pete tong ;) it is inevitable they will go up again

Yes stu i can mind you said in your post that the economic climate has not hit you but you failed to mention that most of your customers dont have mortgages or can afford the interest rate rises, you basically made out i was talking mince even though you failed to mention that the topic i was speaking of was not relevant to your round so you have proved to me that like cozy your just another irrelevant negative troll.

The 2 numpties who shot me down have very little mortgaged customers on their rounds by their own admissions so why the hell they had an opinion on the matter in the first place is beyond me,maybe you should go tell mervyn king hes talking rubbish to.ive got no more to say infact im finding this forum irritating with the trolls who frequent it with their "banter"

I've got a mortgage, (I've a mate who calls me a 'poor person' because of that  ???) and I'm not worried!

First people were worried that the Kosovans were about to take over window cleaning, then the credit crunch; and we're all still 'ere.

Mortgage rates rise to 4.5%  (Mine's fixed at 5.35% for another 5 years, so we've not benefited from the lower interest rates in the first place); and so what?  Okay, we may lose a few customers who were on the edge anyway, but I'm sure we'll find new customers.

I bet we don't even notice the interest rise.

EWC:  Calm down, mate.  You sound really highly strung.

EWC does make a good point and one that has been at the back of my mind for a few months now. All my custies are mortgage paying and the feedback I have been beginning to get is not to be dismissed. Like Stuart, I have always always priced competitively, and I hope this is what will keep those customers on my books in tough financial times. I really would worry if I charged say £10 a 3 bed semi.
EWC I believe has read it right. Times are changing and we service industry guy's can either accept that and work round it, or ignore it and pretend everything is still all ok in the people's minds. It is up to each individual how he handles things.
The child like shenanigans will however, still will remain by some on public forums, on both sides of the argument.

Hyperbole(icks)!  How can you know that ALL of your customers are mortgage paying?  Do you check before you sign them up for your services?  Is it a criteria they must fulfil to be a customer of yours?

Don't you have older customers who've paid off their mortgage?  What percentage of your customers are on fixed rate mortgages and won't be affected?  What about those with very little mortgages, who're maybe in the last years of paying and purchased their house when £40K could get a nice 3 bed semi?

Guys!!!!!  Sheesh!!!!  Rolly eyes!!!!

Yes take that point ronnie, but most were on your books at a higher interest rate long before the rate was lowered, EWC jumped the gun a bit, lots of my customers have mortgages I was merely pointing out different options for gaining customers. i.e the ideal round that I am far from achieving.

All I said on the other post he mentioned was I had lost very little due to cancellations and then admitted he had only lost 5, and that is no big deal as far as I am concerned, it is natural to lose and pick up work as you mould your round I think.

A was wondering, what B was doing.
If interest rates go up, people will get a greater return on their savings too. That`s a positive.

Well I would expect to lose some customers if the interest rates started to rise appreciably.  However, many of them may have paid off their mortgages or be well advanced in them so wouldn't be so badly affected as someone who recently took on a mortgage.  It also needs to be remembered that even without factoring in the mortgage, rate rises can often trigger more unemployment.  So that would lose a few custies too - though maybe not such a direct effect as a higher mortgage.  It's generally a good idea (IMO) to run at full or slightly over capacity in case a number drop off the books.  Just sound business management really I guess.

I am sure you know I was implying I have no customers who rent, so any interest increase could affect my earnings more than someone who has many rented properties on the books fud. I was also trying to convey the effect this unprecedented fuel/gas/leccy rise might cause many to tighten their belts.
