SlX and new DT 15 brush with latest bristles.
« on: May 17, 2011, 05:07:09 pm »
New SLX 30,new 15 degree splay dual trim with improved bristles. Thats what i have been using the last 2 days.Previously i was using a CLX 27 with the 15 degree splay DT and which i can only assume has the earlier bristle type.

Well the new set up is much harder work than the previous.Above ground floor the brush seems happy to dance on the glass on its bristle ends unless i apply much more pressure so i am feeling the extra effort i have been applying. It feels as though the extra rigidity of the pole contributes to this. Now maybe its just my thinking but if a brush is only touching the glass with its bristle tips then i feel i am combing the glass and not getting a sweep of 100% of the surface area. It feels better with the old 15 DT on the end but it feels better again with the CLX and old brush. I put a salmon crinkled  monofilament on the end of the SLX and that felt better and the sweeping action was there without too much pressure needed. I did originally try the DT MONO but that was an immediate no no and i really did feel i was combing the glass. The flex of the CLX does seem to help the brush action.
Now maybe my technique is crap and i need educating but currently my thoughts are that anything dual trim(new bristles) is too much like hard work with a light rigid pole. This doesn`t quite seem as expected but its definitely what i am experiencing.
Tommorrow i`ll be out with the SLX and the salmon(its white with blue bristles, got it from Mr Fogwash).Might swop at half way to the CLX 27 and old DT 15 SPLAY. I`d like to be told i am doing something wrong.

Hi Sean

Sorry to hear that things do not seem to working as they should. Could you email me a photo of the two brushes (old and new) side by side if possible so that I can have a look at the brushes. If you could send them to alex@agardiner.co.uk I can then look into this for you.

I took a couple of pics. I must say though that the older 15 degree splay dual trim has been excellent, put it on to try it and couldn`t take it off. Did a 160 first cleans with it one after the other January time and it gave me total confidence.Occasionaly i batter it so much it comes home a bit mis-shapen so i immerse it in hot water, reshape it(i have combed it),plunge it into cold and its sorted.
I`ve been looking closely at the new one,i knew the bristles felt different  but now i am not sure they are semi flocked(as per spec) or flocked at all which might account for their being no drag on the glass and i am aware the mono dual trim requires extra effort.
