The pain is still here and it seems worse after 6 days of mainly lugging the  pressure washer in and out of the van and wfping,

I've booked for an early finish to visit the quacks on monday to see what he says. I've already diagnosed myself with a rotator cuff injury after reading up on it,

I'm about to start self medicating with wine,

Roll on monday,

Dean.

You should do your poleing with your arms down at waist height not raised above your shoulders. Putting it bluntly it should look to an observer like you are w***ing the pole (sorry but thats the truth, don't know of a better way to put it) that way it stops you loading the upper arms, shoulder and neck muscles..

OK so now I have said it lets hear the comments.

only £15. That must be a very  "special" friend then. Do they work out of a room in old market?

It sounds exactly the same as what was wrong with mine.  Your left shoulder.  Restricted movement.  Have difficulty getting dressed; taking coats/shirts on and off almost impossible doing it the normal way.

When you move quickly, for example if you slip and correct your body position, are you in a lot of pain?  When I did this, the pain was intense enough to 'drop' me for a minute or so; very acute pain.

If so, it's not as bad as you think.  A course of strong anti-inflammatory tablets will sort this out, but it'll take a few weeks to seriously improve and a month-or-two to get back to 100% normal.

My shoulder's great now.

Good to hear its gone  :) Anti Inflam dont always work (with me)and should be taken with a stomache lining protector. The olny thing that is working with me is excercise, even the accupuntcure failed.  :(
For what its worth its best not to let it start by using good wfp method and warm up and cool down, maybe somebody should write a book.

and should be taken with a stomache lining protector.

The tablets I had come coated in something that means they don't dissolve till they get to your small intestine (or something like that) but they still wrecked my guts.  I had to eat them with food, but even then they took some getting used too.  It wasn't much fun going poo poo.  :-X

The olny thing that is working with me is excercise,

What exercises do you do?  I think I read one of your posts that you follow a regime you saw on youtube.  Have you a linky?

Had a similar problem about 6 months ago dean... doc said 2 months off work... i changed my pole from a hydra alloy to a clx and it was gone in a few days.

DONT have dihydracodine - it messes with you (not in good ways) and im still suffering from taking it 6 months down the line

my advise would be to spend 5 minutes stretching in the morning and evening.
A lot of the aches and pains can come from lactic acid that builds up in the muscles after doing a repetitive action.  Stretching will get rid of this lactic acid (which is effectively a poison), and also helps prevent any niggles from building up into serious actions by increasing flexibility and strength

That sounds exactly like a frozen shoulder and it's bloody painful, especially if you over extend past a certain point, it can be so painful it'll almost drop you to your knees in agony.
My doc rammed a nice fat juicy needle a couple of times deep into my shoulder joint....didn't hurt much at all in truth and it did help a little.
There are a few exercises you can try;
One is to use your fingers to walk your hand up the the wall to the point it begins to hurt....
Strange things are frozen shoulders, they are nor 100% sure why they occur but it is basically the sheath or cap around the joint squeezes tight rather than stretches and as a result ends out restricting movement and forcing things unduly, quite apart from causing you intense agony, just excacibates the situation and causes inflammation...erm...or something like that :-/
Plenty of rest for the arm, dose up with anti inflamatories of one kind or another and after several months you will suddenly realise the pain has gone and your shoulder is back to normal....
I tried acupuncture, massage, cortisone injections and screaming like a baby when I would give it an accidental wrench, followed by language so foul that birds fell dead from the sky as a result!
In the end it just slowly faded away.
