If you have a mobile phone you might find it cheaper to text from the website of the carrier.
I use T-Mobile and I send text to customers using my text allowance, costs me no more than I would be paying every month anyway and all pc based.

its to easy for people to say 'not today' with replying to a text.

make it one way and you tell them you'll be there without any issues

been there done it

I'd rather know about not being able to get to the back of someone's house BEFORE I get there rather than finding out I had wasted my time getting there.

Yes I do get some saying 'not this time' but some of the properties we do are out in the sticks and wasting the time travelling when I could be earning would be worse than the odd one delaying the job.

It's all part of the customer service for me, my customers knowing they can get in touch is a big part of that.

Horses for courses.

Anyway, the thread was about text services and I was just offering an alternative.

But this is it. We don't get told when we get there half the people are at work and the others tend to be ok. We don't have not todays. and if we do do its minimal and they give me a good reason or i delete their account. It was just problematic when texting because it easy for them to hit the reply button and cause aggro

I'm not criticising the way you run your business, I totally understand why dpo you do what you do.
I am just stating the way we do it.

I use o2 and they can reply to me. It is rare I get not todays, if I do it is usually for a good reason. I will only allow so many not todays and then they are moved to 'suspended' in George. Do that enough times and you will find texting not to be a problem all of a sudden.

Thank you chaps, good advice as always... going with the one way text service if its not to costly!
