3 calls in 1 week from my free listing all wanted one clean which was fine i quoted 2-3 times what it would be monthly they sounded over the moon , said they will call me back,

not saying yell is the way forward i think my free ad was on for a month but thought id share this , anyone els had joy from yell?

yes mate when you take the free listing they rank it high up, then you get a few calls and you are delighted, then here comes the bad bit yell will be on the phone shortly asking you to upgrade to an enhanced listing etc just say no and stick with free listing, it is handy enough for picking up work but not worth paying for, but that is just my tuppence worth others may disagree

I too have a free listing, but I am feeling a bit depressed now because they called me today and told me my website was not showing up high in listings !    If only I had paid a few hundred quid to them for a proper listing I would so much better off now. . . . ah well  :

i ad a medium weight listing for 2 year then i dumped .

now they wont stop pestering me iv had at least 10 (even more if you include answer messages) calls since end of february. i tell them every time google is doing best for me, they keep telling me the its all down to them that google ranks my site high. they wont tahe no for an answer. i feel like blocking yells number.     works for some, but the way they sell their business to you is like they think your thick or somthing, they tell you that 30,000 people veiwed your listing last year or some other figure that is vauge (eg if sombody was looking for an other window cleaning in your area  and you were on the same page they class your listing as being viewed. they cant tell you how many people phoned you from seeing you listing.

many years ago,i was almost ripped off by a slick yellow pages salesman to the tune of hundreds of pounds . this was in the days when they came to your door . luckily for me i was able to cancel but the salesman tried to stop the cancel. iv never trusted an ad seller since !

Ive got one, some sales person rang and got the shirt on with me cause i said no. I said if i wanted to pay for it id ring you. Got home and theyd taken my free listing off...so i put it back up

Ive had a better response from gumtree,also try freeindex they will send you txt messages for free alerting you to someone looking for a quote in your area.

gumtrees free m8,i normally post in services section however if someone does a search in gumtree for window cleaner (your town) then it comes up with your advert just put which
 areas you cover in the ad title.

YELL SALESMEN ARE CONMEN i got coldcalled few months back by yell they said for £40 a month for 4 months id have a website made by them and i would be in the top 3 of google listings which was a total lie,turned out i was advertised on the right hand side of the browser you know the adverts noone ever clicks on,i complained and they told me the listings move around which they do but rarely when i search do i find myself in the top 3 plus the website they done was pants www.ewcservicesbonnyrigg.co.uk my contract with them is due for for renewal and it wont be renewed dont be conned like i was.

The key to rankings is not down to yell as they say. If you set your meta tags to your required search terms and then have these metas in your home page derscription you should rank well. To further improve your rankings gain back links and one way links should further improve your rankings

I rank 1st in my area for most search terms, even above yell using the above method    and only have free listing on yell.
