Marks from dried TFR?
« on: May 13, 2011, 04:54:51 pm »
There seems to be dried run marks on a window I cleaned.  It was first clean so a sprayed TFR (actual it was virasol) and left for no more than 5 to 10 mins probably nearer 5.

I know this can be a problem if it is left on for too long but surely just a few mins is nit enough to cause a problem is it?

Could it have been the virasol?

Yes if it was a strong mix. I've done the same with Fleetclean TFR. I never use the stuff any more.

If you did it while the sun was out then yes.

I use Virosol, but ONLY for conny roofs at 1:23

So I presume you do use it on glass con roofs??

If so do you not use it when its sunny on glass con roofs?

TFR on glass is not a problem unless left too long and in this weather you need to be quick.

i only use it at 2% as per instuctions.  and on windows in the sun i wet 1st then TFR - then scrub.

if you have TFR marks then you need to scrub it by hand

Thanks Darren

1. If you don't need to wet windows as its not that hot, how long would you leave the tfr on for? Max of how many minutes?

2. When you say scrub to get it off, what would you recommend?  Presumable soething more substantial than the WFP and brush?  Or will that do?

3. Will it always come off with enough scrubbing?

cheers

if the window is not in direct sunlight you've got around 15 mins. - in winter upto the 1/2 hr mark - depends
on how strong the solution and how much you put on.

as a rule of thumb i spray 3 windows & frames then scrub them returning to the 1st for final wash over and rinse.

from experience - i forgot 1 window and got some marks - re applying tfr and wfp'ing didn't touch it - it looked good until the water dried i only got it off with the green sponge scourer thingies.. :(

Oh dear, you will have removed the marks and left scratches... didn't you know you should only use the white scourers for glass, they are non scratch ???

Not sure why tfr would be considered for windows even first clean. Had a new custy recently, not cleaned in 8 years, only used pure water even with soft brush just a bit longer needed and thorough soaking initially.

Very happy customer.

Dont put TFR on glass you don't need it.It sticks in the brush and make spots. If you must use something use IPA in your water. The TfR is more for UPVC and algae on connies.I would rather use GG4 and spray on brush and rinse well if I must.
