ive been wfp for a year now and its made a massive difference to my business and  a safer working day etc etc.

i have noticed a few things though.

I have problems with my left wrist, I know its caused by extending the pole, just have to wear a wrist support.
The main problem is pushing down on it when climbing over fences, not nice at all...

Then there's the sciatica...

I'm 52 and hope to be doing it untill at least my 70th birthday. I've got no pension to look forward to so I will have to continue to work.

I've had the 'numb hands' thing after prolonged poling for a number of years now.  At first I thought it was carpel tunnel syndrome, but as the years have past, nothing bad has happened, so when I get the numb hands I take a break (normally less than a minute) where I put down my pole and 'relax', and it soon passes.

Then I crack back on working again.

Doing a few yoga exercisies will probably help with the neck as it helps relieve tension, stretches muscles and ligaments in different directions and strengthens and increases suppleness of the body overall.

I find it helps.

I'm a bit lazy when it comes to doing the yoga but I find it definitely helps if I do it a few times a week.

Probably getting into meditation helps as well, something to do with helping the body to heal. I attended a buddhist meditation course years ago and at the time had rsi in my right shoulder and found that simply directing attention to the area during the class the pain went away. (It wasn't suggested, just something I found myself doing).

I get this after a prolonged amount of work and find that my 8 weekly chiropractor visit helps as does intaking cannabis using a vaporisor...seriously cannabis helps my body relax and not tighten up during the night...

Cheers

It will need to help you relax when you get banged up for it and have to accommodate "mummies c.o.c.k" every evening. ;D

I have had a succession of RSI shoulder neck and bad back problems etc  etc -all can be cured by the right sort of excercises.Accupuncture also worked. Look on Youtube and put in the problem you want to fix and up pops good videos. I tried all the tablets etc and agree with Tosh, you need to drink 2L water a day.

How do you hold the pole Dazmond?  If your gripping the pole in the middle with your right hand then that can cause strain.  I cup my hand and sit the base of the pole in my hand.

For neck ache you can work further away from the window, only a real solution if you have a light pole and no good if your working at great heights.

I've had the elbow pain as well but my osteopath showed me some exercises you can do to stretch out the tendons, the pain has now gone.  In short look at the way your working and try to make adjustments and see an osteopath, it will be worth the money if he's any good.

as for the weed it will help you relax then your muscles will follow, now I'm 42 Ive smoked weed from age 13 too 39, gave up now, sort of, weekends only with some rum, but as for aches will working i just cheat these days, i use Decca in small doses due to it has very good healing properties works a treat you just got to watch out for bad moods but I'm old enough to control them, if your not in control of your emotion don't try it, you here the word roid rage Decca in high dose will cause it and double your strength but also wonderful healing properties so low dose is fine.

It's a steroid:

Quote
Side Effects:
Deca has a fairly low rate of side effects compared to other, more extreme compounds. However, even with low doses, side effects may include sever depression and mood swings, “roid rage”, oily skin, acne, liver damage, heart attack, irregular blood pressure, digestive issues, sleeplessness, restlessness, and because it is an injectable steroid, injection abcesses are common and because its not uncommon for bodybuilder buddies to share needles, HIV and other blood born diseases are possible.
