How much do you think i could sell my round for, it has 30K profit a year, only myself working ,mostly cleaned wfp some traditional work and apart from one car show room and two shops the rest is domestic. I know how much i would like but im interested to see how much others feel would be a fair price including wfp equipment but not a van.

 thats 2500 a month profit .not bad.

i think you will sell it for maybe 10k if you sell it traditionally .

but as a buisness and sold as a buisness maybe a lot more .

If you mean turnover from one man (ie you) is 30K then if I was buying to put someone on it then I would hope to pay them about two thirds to three-quarters of that including costs on top of their wages. So I would be thinking about making £7.5k a year from my management time.

So if I thought the figures stacked up then £7.5 to £12.5K?

If I was buying it myself to work from and make a living? Depends how urgently I needed it and whether I could pay you monthly - in which case perhaps £5k down and £1000 per month for six months?

I would need a lot more info than that to come up with a price.

Do you mean profit or turnover? they are 2 very diferent things. (turnover for vanity, profit for sanity)

If it is profit, what is the turnover?

What is the average price per unit?
how long have the jobs been on your books?
wfp or trad?
compact work or spread out?
how do they pay?

Lots of little things go to make the work better quality therefore more atractive to purchace.

reading between the lines, id say hes got the words profit and turnover mixed up, if this is the case, his minimum sale price is 7.5k.....this could then be improved by other factors, as neil quite rightly pointed out...lots of little things improve selling price

This is £30k profit for myself after expenses ie i pay tax on £30k
turnover is £33600
Customers are in a small market town and all are within a five minute drive of my house and each other.
Payment methods are cash/ cheque in person. If not at home customers send cheque through post, drop cash through my letter box or pay by internet transfer.
There are 402 customers most monthly one 3 weekly one street 6 weekly and the odd ones throughout the round every other time. Round started in 2002 with ladders and bucket and a small hand full of customer have built it and refined it over the years.
I work monday to friday 8:30am to approx 5pm with a 1 hour lunch break in summer, obviously have to finish earlier in winter. Finish early on occasional friday dont work bank holidays.

  Did you read it before posting that? He said he pays tax on 30k, which is the profit after his expenses are deducted from his turn over, which he states is 33600.

   He obviously manages to run his round with very little costs, so I would think the work is very compact as he would soon start to up his fuel spend if not.

                 Anyway,well priced compact work shouldn`t really be sold for any less than 6 times gross monthly take so its worth every penny of 15K. If con roofs,gutters and prostitution havn`t been included in turnover i may be interested so long as there is scope to lose a few/dump/gain a few and the locals are not too interbred.

  I think he meant that the 30k is his tax liability, which obviously then has his personal allowance taken off by the tax man when they calculate his tax demand.

The reason for my asking is that i,m  training for the skills to change trades and start a new business. I wondered whether it would be best once my new business starts to just sell the round or to keep it on as i build up the other business and gradually do less and less window cleaning.

As i said above im training to do something else. Im 28 and i dont want to be window cleaning for another 40 or 50 years.
I would like to build up a new business which when established would be worth selling. If you were to sell any other business or even client list which produced the profit my round does you would be looking at getting a good sum for it. However realistically no one is going to pay much for a window cleaning round .
