did you know that websites should be accsessable to disabled persons, if not then you could be taken to court over it, some of you may already but i bet alot of you didnt (i didnt know until recently), not sure exactly whats needed to comply but will try to find out later this week. now speaking to my web man whos going to be going over it soon to see what needs changing

I did hear something about this a few years ago.  I'm not clear about how this could be properly managed because the range of disabilities is vast.
As for text size for the partially sighted, surely this is already taken care of by browser setting - usually under the "VIEW" menu.   I occasionally make use of this myself if I've left my reading glasses in the van.
I suppose that doing things the simpler way by making sure that text can be read by "voice speaking" software rather than embedding some text in images is a good start.
If you wanted to cater for every type of disability, you would probably need to do several parallel sites as it might become to complex to code for on one site.

I don't think it's law. Especially font size, as all internet browsers come with the option to view all sites with increased font.

It is law to have your website in some way useable for the vision impaired, although I doubt any small company will ever be prosecuted for faliure in this regard. Perhaps if the Microsoft website wasn't friendly to the vision impaired they might get in trouble, but not the average joe or small company.

There are software packages that read out the on page text to a person with impaired vision & allow them limited use of the net. Making sure you have real text & not having your vital info embedded in pictures is all you can really do IMO,.. and anyone trying to boost their google ranking will have this done already.

Thanks for the tip mate. I will change all of my font to caps so THE HARD OF HEARING CAN READ IT TOO!!!
