Water prices plummet to all time low.
« on: April 25, 2011, 07:43:13 am »

Just had a flyer from a new water company offering water at ridiculously low prices.

It might even be cheaper if windies club together, they say they can supply my whole village for just £2.
For more information contact them now, they are called Oxfam.

Unfortunately not.
If I lived in a house I would harvest rainwater.  I live in a flat though and it wouldn't be practical.  Iroinically, I want to go on a meter in my flat but they won't let me (I live alone and have no dishwasher and would save money by this).  This is because some of the pipework is shared with other flats and it would require three meters.  Their limit is two.  At my work unit though, obviously I must be on a meter.  It's just coming up to the one year mark for me in that place and my usage for the year (including RO waste water) is going to be a bit over 280,000 litres.  That's about 5,400 litres per week.  I did have a merlin installed for about 4 months of it so that didn't help matters much.  Although I've never measured it, I imagine that a bit less than half of that water has been used for cleaning.  I would like to be able to recycle some of it but the layout of the place (and bearing in mind it doesn't belong to me) would make this too difficult.  There's only so much RO waste water my landlord could put on his garden.

I believe you are recycling it by returning it to the drains to be used further down the line.

That's my thoughts also.

And as an interesting little tit bit of information, someone has worked out that every molecule of water you drink has passed through at least 50 other human bodies before hand!  ;D
