Hi this i feel is a handy way of water control to all the wfp users who have there hose on the outside of the pole,this saves me loads of water, press trigger for water release to stop rinse on or off the glass, these triggers can be bought from mike at cleantech for £7.00, i use these triggers on unger 30ft 18 ft and the pole you see in the pics

Hi the pole you see in the pics is one that i use for bottoms and conservatories, its a decorators pole very handy and quick, to use press the red button to extend or release

Call me anal but if your using that pole on conservatorys how can the trigger save you water , not sure about you but all the conservatories i do have the windows next to each other , so its continual work surely ?

P@F   I said i use the pole in the pics for bottoms and conservatories, yes you a right it does no different to any other pole on consevatories, what i should explain is the pic is to show how i use the trigger on the pole, i use this method on all my poles 30ft 18ft and the one in the pics, should have explained it better, (right) pull trigger wash window release trigger water stops no loss of water you can rince on or off the glass, i feel the trigger helps me in speed an water control ie: no loss and the variflow does the rest so no need for anything else ie: remote or shut off valve, so total control for £7.00

AHA i see , on the top windows , when i move from bedroom to bedroom the water that would normaly hit the walls is wasted , if i had a trigger the water would be saved , not a lot from window to window , but quite a saving over the whole day i should imagine .

James, I'm so new to WF Poling, my gear hasn't even arrived yet.

I take it this switch just 'nips' a pipe shut?

Would this damage the pump in anyway?

Not with the variflow setup Tosh.
Also, on some of the pump box setups, such as the Brodex one (Peter Fogwill-Aquatec, the one I have) and Cleantech do, they are set up to recycle the water, so as you turn the flow down the pump simply keeps on working without being overloaded.

Over 18 months of continuous use and-touch wood-no problems as of yet.

Mt own nethod of flow control is to simply bend and kink the pole hose, I'll even tie a quick knot in it when needed

James 44 , im using the primative tap connection on end of my hose , when closed it just routes water back to tank , i hate to think how many times i bend down to turn it off every day !

I use this trigger,it`s off a numatic wet and dry carpet cleaner,the circular clamps fits over the pole and the connectors are push fit,the size of the connector fits 6 mm hose that run up the pole and the trigger is about a third of the size of the trigger you use,once i can work out how to send my photos i can show you the set up,Gaz.

Der .... I didn't look closely at the second picture.

Today I've been looking a bit more closely at how we use our wfp pole. The problem with a trigger, for us anyway, is that depending on the building the pole gets held differently and in different places.

Do you only use the trigger on a shortish pole?

Also I think that's a Vikan brush? Is it any good?

I tie a ring near the bottom of the pole. The size will depend on your hose but I use the 8mm bore Tricoflex both up the pole and on the hose reel, 30 metres in all.
When I want to stop the flow I just bend the hose and push it through the ring. That stops the Veriflow untill I go to the next window or round the back. DAi

the trigger is a nice idea, i must admit

though the water wasted between windows is nothing in my opinion


on the subject of taps / triggers and the like

this is what i do, for example today i cleaned a newish estate

park trolley cart under the middle window, then my 10 M's of micro hozelock is JUST enough to clean the whole of the front, then i turn off the pump and move the cart around the back, and park it under the middle of the house and do the same

jobs a good un, i allways think, the more "gadgets" you install and add into your system, the more items you have to break and fail and go wrong

on slightly bigger houses i might have the move the cart on the front on the house once and then once on the rear, but it doesnt take long

Rosskesava, No i use the trigger on all my poles and have had no problems with the vikan brush, i have only been poling about 4 months or so and have had no bad feedback of spotting the result have been very good,i dont know about other brushes as the vikan ones are all i use.


Matt i do something similar to you, the reason that i put the trigger on in the first place, was because i was fed up having to go back to my backpack trolley to switch it of, as for water waste well since i have used the trigger method i have saved water no doubt yesterday i did 12   3/4 bedroom houses with  3 barrels of  water 3x25ltr 75 ltrs in total  now i am not saying that that is down to the trigger  but it sure helps and i am getting better so are using less water  these two combined works well for me, same as when i use my vanmount  just connect hose and go, i like the idea of not having the extra expence of remote control or anyting

Sorry - I missed your earlier question.

We're new to wfp so it's that steep learning curve. The first thing I learnt was that sometimes I get soaked.

With regards which pole - we use a 35' Ionics pole. It's the only pole we've ever used so I have no idea about other poles but it does seem ok if a little heavy (understatement) on full extension especially if you're more than a slight angle to the window.

The Ionics brush - that I'm not so impressed with but the same applies in that it's the only brush we've used but I've read good reports about vikan brush so I might buy one and give it a go.

The trigger.... that's looks such a good idea. We're going to sort it out this coming Sunday I hope..... that is if my missus don't throw a wobbly because the last 4 Sundays have been spent doing this that and the other to our wfp setup.
