Imprinted concrete problems New
« on: April 01, 2011, 05:07:39 pm »
cleaned & re-sealed (with added colour tint) a p-i-c drive last may, customer rings me wednesday can i go round and have a look at it,  so i went round this afternoon, he had had some work done on his house, the builder's typicaly had left a mess cement stain's etc!
they also left a huge tyre skid mark on the surface, the custy in his wisdom tried to clean it off using of all things varnish & paint stripper it has left the affected area white as it stripped the sealant off & bedded itself into the concrete, i am going to try a 50/50 mix of sodium hypo on the stain tomorrow but he say's he wants to have the whole drive cleaned and se-sealed again, don't mind that but i need to remove all of the exiting sealant, will the sealant come off easily after a year, or do i need to spray it with sodium hypo or something before washing.?
cheers,
jim.

Hi,

As far as i know when you clean & seal a PIC drive you clean the drive and don't strip the sealer but re-activate the old sealer using their thinners and then apply the sealer to the top!!!

And with regards to the stain i done one that the builders had used brick acid on to get rid of a cement stains, and i used colour additive and spot treated the problem areas and then sealed

Hope this helps ;)

Regard
Alan

thanks for the advice, the trouble is the stain is really heavy you can see it from miles away,i will ask the customer if he wants me to spot clean it, after all it it carn't look any worse.

If just going for the repair you're problem will be getting an exact colour match, unless you were exact in your measurements last time around.

Should be possible though as the xylene in the sealer will help the existing and the new blend together.
