Has anyone tried DIY signage for vans?
« on: March 31, 2011, 08:51:41 pm »
As per the post title, has anyone tried DIY van signage from sites like this:

http://www.signsandshirts.co.uk/diy.html

What did you think of it?  And does it last?

I use magnetic signs.

I think you can go overboard with van wrap and stuff.

Simple magnetic or signwritten writing saying what you do and how to get hold of you is about right IMO.
It's a game of three halves!

alot use signbuilder

ive had a look at signsright.

pick the magnetic section, just to have a play with the software, they have much better templates to use than signbuilder

Are the magnetic signs any good?  I had some for my car when I first started window cleaning and I didn't like 'em.  They slipped about in the end and were often skew-wiff.  I'm pretty good with my hands, with this sort of thing (well I can wallpaper anyway), so I fancy the stick on stuff.

I've used vistaprint twice now. (And for cards) First signs shredded after two years but so cheap who cares? Second lot are fine after two years. Just don't tick any "extra" boxes.

That was expensive for a DIY job; you can get it for about £100 on that link I put up.

(Only joking)

Where did you get it done, RZ; it appears Gav seems to think I should get it done professhonily.

I used signbuilder and if you take your time and use masking tape to measure out and get your lines straight it is very easy to do, it took me 2 weeks to do the design though!
Im not scared of heights, just falling from them.

ive got magnetic signs as well from signbuilders.i think there great.nice and big and i designed them myself.cost me £98 with vat and delivery but they do the job!

im planning on getting another van next year so they ll do until then.

are they not a pain to take off when you get them done professionally when you come to sell your van on?
price higher/work harder!

I cant believe how many people talk about magnetic signs !     They look rubbish and they give out a signal that they are  fly by night operation ( because the signs can always come off and on to the next project ) !

Sorry to sound harsh but most people buy on impulse and a good sign written van says a lot about your business. . . . . . pro or fly by night !
