Its gone mad here - booking jobs into May now, prices up on last year due to the price of fuel and because of this I'm collecting my new diesel m/c tomorrow. I've done 7 years with my Honda but it costs £55 for two jerry cans which can only go on top of your wage for the day so how can you charge the same as last year unless you save elsewhere. I've even had to sqeeze a quote in on the way tomorrow because its 70 miles from my house. Its you, you don't sell yourself, you don't convert leads into work because you don't believe you are worth what you charge. Look at the mirror and tell us what you see  ??? Why new customers ? Why don't last years come back   ? Make them wait so then next year they will ring and book earlier in the year

in the three years i have been operating i have built up quite a good client base, i do have plenty of year after year customers and lots of referrals from those customers, i do take your point about what i am worth & what i charge as any self respecting business man should, i agree i should not keep my price's the same, i am just testing the water will look at them later, i did look in the mirror and saw a man who has spent most of his working life down a pit or lorry driving, and is now trying to persuade people he is the best driveway cleaner in the world, my point is new customers who have asked for quote's this year are not getting back to me as they have in the last two years and was just inquiring if anybody else had noticed this.

ps! two of the other four rung me this morning and booked me so i take it all back

I too was a miner, have worked at the docks and a soft drinks factory. When I quote on the drives I give the customers a folder to look at while I measure up and that contains photos of past work so they know what they are paying for. Its all about how you come over when you quote and what you believe reflects that. I found that the cycle picked after 3 seasons so it should only get better. I only really advertise the pressure washing in the local parish magazine and Word of mouth
