Tosh's new van - lets help him choose.
« on: March 18, 2011, 05:19:09 pm »
Tosh let slip he's getting a van and as he hasn't asked for any help I'm wading in where angels fear to tread and making suggestions - perhaps you can too.

If he's not going new then I reckon he should get a 56 plate Peugeot Expert with a 2L 110 Hdi engine with a 900kg payload. It must have 3 seats like most of them do so's he can fetch and carry worlittlun and worlass at the same time. He can have a 500L tank as well.

Small enough to park, big enough for the family, cheap enough to run at 36 mpg.

Over to you.
It's a game of three halves!

is tosh not still using a backpack for most of his work? ;D ;D ;D ;D

the 3 seats do sound good.i think my next van will be a scudo/expert/dispatch.more room for poles and barrels as well!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

is there any other  smallish vans on the market that have 3 seats in the front?

i quite fancy a high roof connect but i could do with 3 seats.

I reckon £5K is my limit; maybe £6K; maybe £7K if I get rid of my car, but I'd like to keep it around £5K so I've got a grand to buy the kit to go in the back.

And Daz, yes, still using the backpack, and it works great.  But my motor is at that age where it's going to need replacing, so I may get a van.  And I've got the cash, no credit, so a backpack isn't that bad is it?

So £5K - can that get anything worth buying?  If so where should I look?  I'd like something with three seats and can carry 400 650 litres comfortably.

No mate, with that bright yellow duck on the side, everyone would think I'm, well, you know, "Hello sailor", sort of thing.

That's not the image I like to project.

I am looking at those, but I prefer the new shape. I may have to settle for the latest old shape, or wait another year.
