Put a post up with the heading Newmarket and someone will tell you what their tds is. 600 sounds more like a waste water reading

OK, here's some info.

I live in Southampton; the measures for my water versus yours ( from http://waterquality.anglianwater.com/map.aspx using a newmarket postcode ) are:

                  SO15     CB8

CaCO3      262           329

Ca mg/l   104.8       131.6

°Clarke    18.34        23

°French      26.2          33

°German  14.67        18.7

So you look like you have about 25% more dissolved salts than I do.  Unfortunately the water companies don't do TDS numbers, just the ones above.  You might want to try your own postcode in there in case I've picked totally the wrong area.

My water has a TDS of 279, so your reading of 600 sounds VERY suspect to me.  Should be nearer 350.  Something's up...

Hope this helps,

Vin

Long story but two vessels will last 3 or 4 times longer  than one. One would be ok for the amount of water you will use,but two is the way to go

Ive decided to go the way of  2 11ltr vessels but as im not that clued up yet is this correct for what i need?.

 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/di-resin-vessel-window-cleaning-bio-filter-11lt-/160554918801?pt=UK_HomeGarden_CLV_Cleaning_CA&hash=item2561d1a391

The resin is free postage so doesn't look a bad deal, im itching to get going with my backpack so i need to get sorted, when i do get the vessels how full do you fill them? thanks.

Both of those are perfect. When you get the vessels let us know. I think there are vids on youtube of how to fill them. Unscrew the lid, fill 3/4 full with a funnell or similar, fill with water and crew the lid back on

I have a similar RO to yours and it works very well. The tds should imporove after a few days use.

A problem I had with mine when new is that it had 2 faulty membranes (3rd one OK - 300gpd unit). Try taking a seperate tds reading from each membrane to see if they perform equally. Apparently if they are stored for a long time they can start to break down.

no body as said a bout your water pressure.

what is it.???????

dont say it seems good get a gauge cost £9.low pressure sometimes means high tds from membrains.

if you are going to order a di then get from someone who know what there on about and great service with next day del

speak to doug at http://www.daqua.co.uk/divessels.htm

A di is a di no matter where you get it from, its the resin that matters. Why buy a new one from da when there is a second hand one on ebay for £20ish?

Mains pressure will never be below 40psi. At 40 psi you should still be getting a tds reading as high as 15. If you drill out he hole into the feed water pipe this will allow more water to access the ro. Unless your ro is a mile away from your tap then pressure/flow rate should be fine

Yes i have checked that but what i cant understand is there is no differance on the reading whether the resin is in the housing or not.Running thorough without the DI im getting around 35 how long should i let it run through the resin untill it gets lower or should it be quick?.Even if the DI isn't performing very well it should still make a differance.

I didn't want this thread to cause arguments everybodys got there own ideas and thats what makes these forams work luther1 surgestions helped me decide which way to go and a cheaper way as my budget is tight.
But the water pressure thing may or not be an issue but my main problem is why doesn't the DI fitted to my RO make any differance thats what id like to know.
