Stupid clutch broke today
« on: February 18, 2011, 06:01:15 pm »
Well after several months of thinking "I really must get the clutch done", it finally gave up the ghost. Good old van waited until the town center work was done, but finally caved in on the way home.

I did three miles in third gear, got seriously lucky on a couple of steep hills and a junction before having to stop at a give way half a mile from home. I managed to keep the engine running but couldn't select anything. It was a couple of minutes before I discovered that I needed to switch off, select third and start it in gear.

I managed to get it home, and booked it in for fixing tomo (£360). AA are cool, they will pick me up at seven and tow me there.

Fixing the clutch will cost nearly as much as the book price for the van.

DOH!!!!!!!!!!!
if it is dirty it is fair game

How cool are the AA, the bloke turned up at 7.30, rooted about for five mins and said it was only the clutch arm that was broke.

He said he could have done it there and then if he had the part.

Will do it myself as soon as the parts dept opens... ;)
