They let 100 go last year too , big drop off in insurance work for them, the new owners have bought in a declining market, good on the original owners for selling when they did.

I have noticed their end user charges (to the customer) have come down on routine work, and that they are travelling a lot further for small jobs.
I competed and lost to a CD who had travelled 15 miles to quote a living room / HSL

I know what you are saying Neil but you need to look at it from a larger company stand, they have a man spare that can clean it and keep in with the insurance company for the lucrative work, we (me included) can't afford to compete with that but then my time as well as yours is more precious.

That's a bit naughty I was under the impression that CD took 20% from insurance work, it's not really pushing the quality angle of the business lets not forget that CD have a very good name for themselves.

my local chemdry is quoting £200 for a big through lounge and has a min charge of £95, so they are not all only getting £75 for a 3 bed

Of course, work brought through from HQ will be wholesale lol minus thier share so to speak.

The chem drys around here charge quite a bit too. Similar to Mikes, and from what customers have told me over the years they are not overly impressed on thier cleaning ability.

Maybe they are comparing the cost of the job to the time spent cleaning. I mean there's only so long you can drag out a through lounge at £200.

Tony you are so right it makes me laugh! But they have spent time and money on marketing and that's the key.

Sorry Neil didn't notice the post about woman in Nottingham, BTW no she hasn't rang.

Back to thread, one of my local CD's quoted a customer £198 for a thru room to be cleaned approx 250 sq ft, the customer told him he was taking the rise, I didn't know this until I quoted my price but he snatched my hand off.
