customer gone wild
« on: January 29, 2011, 04:51:23 pm »
I had 3 fronts in one street all near each other, only had them 6 months so this was the 3rd clean (2 monthlys)

History of customer
1st clean WFP tops ,trad bottems
customer pays happy

WFP tops trad bottems
Customer sends cheque little late but not to late i remember calling to remind her after 3 weeks she said she post it yesterday)

3rd clean WFP top and WFP bottem

customer was out but comes back after 30 mins calls me on my phone and starts
shouting at me "my windows my windows!!!! what have you done you have left them ALL wet !!! , im gona have to pay for someone els to clean them heyyyyy!!

I says "please relax its pure water bla bla bla, " no its not its going to leave streaks everywhere" i said to her i have cleaned your home this method from the start only difference was you never seen your bottom windows wet as i used the old method on half your house.

i said only problem you may see is if you have any poor paint work you may see a little.... then she said i beg your pardon? my paintwork is of high quality thankyou very much.

My god in the end i asked her to call me tomorrow when its dry and then decide call me if any problems ill re clean it etc rince off more on offending windows... she said ok

no call for 2 weeks. then this morning 8.55am saturday (day off) she calls me and says hello , yes it took 2 weeks for the water to dry lol!? we ONLY NOW have had a chance to see we are not happy and i will not be paying you do not come back then hangs up before i had anything to say.

she calls back in 5 mins again , it seems she wasnt satisfied that her call and refusal to pay did not effected me as i did not try and argue back. she then said may i ask a question , ......

what does all this work guarantee mean? so i said it means if you give me a chance ill redo the window which you feel may not have been cleaned to a good standard she said what right now saturday morning at 8.55am i said no monday, she then laughed and said no im gona have to pay someone to clean these windows i want you to stay away and im not paying! hangs up again

customer must have forgotten that she is paying for me to keep her windows clean the 1st clean took care of that now she wants to pick about,i forgot to tell her if she uses me when she wants its 4x clean.i wont be going back thou lol

Just the usual case of a smart arse that knows damn all about nothing!

Hard to not let it get you down but just write it off and don't give her anymore thought. even though you probably feel like squeezing her neck till her eyes pop out ;)

I had this about two days before christmas. Up til then customer had always been out at work. When she saw all the water she went into one.

Just tell them if they can't afford it don't worry I don't mind doing the odd charity job. Its always going to happen with WFP. A certain % is always going to not like it. Its a marmite system, they either love it or hate it.

We had one a couple of days ago. Cleaned this womans house wfp. Really house is under priced but wfp just about OK in a run of houses. Cleaned windows wfp loads of times - job done. Next door is much smaller, nice lady and has asked us not to use wfp - takes 5 mins no problems.
Anyway, woman at first house comes out and starts giving it the big one. I want my windows doing like next door she says, that system leaves marks all down the windows. So we leave it a bit and those windows dried perfect. She comes out and says there were marks - BUT THERE WEREN'T ANY!
We re did bay trad just to shut her up wiped the sill down  - it was spotless and she came out and wiped it again and tutted. It's in a run of houses so awkward to get rid but if she wants it trad the price has gone up - cheeky cow.
Does make you want to strangle em  >:(

Look, you are going to get this with WFP, no way of avoiding it. When it happens just cut and run. Its only a very small percentage.

As other posters have said its the aggressive IM NOT PAYING YOU types that usually do this and I just say OK don't. Its like they want you to burst into tears and beg for a second chance.

Life's too short, am I bothered? No not really. You don't win every time.

You guys are waaaaaayyyyyyy too soft - doing one trad next to one wfp is asking for trouble! Just explain wfp to them, tell them your guarantees and if they aren't happy with wet windows or this and that and the other then drop'em or be dropped.

I now feel sorry for the trad boys round here  - there were two of them in the same road as me working together on a semi and they took longer doing it than me doing one on my own. My round is full to bursting and I've just had my best January ever with a working day left.
It's a game of three halves!

When you look back at the nutters, there was normally a warning going off somewhere in the back of your brain right at the start. I had a classic. She came across the road to a house I was cleaning and had done for 6 motnhs or so, so the windows looked great. asked me to start doing hers, but not today because her ladders aren't locked up? I don't need ladders says I. She says again, come back next week when the ladders are locked?? I won't bore you with the rest but in the end I cleaned them the once and it was painful.

I hate the custys who stand there and watch you clean them, then inspecting them afterwards.
I told one custy I won't be going back, after cleaning them for 6 months (4 weekly) and her inspecting them everytime, she said why? so I told her if she doesn't trust me to clean them, then get someone she does trust.

An old computer programming saying is "crap in crap out" so steadily going thru my round and sacking the nutters / odd balls / crap payers etc only got a few left now as replacing them with freshly canvassed work, so now make sure no crap gets into my round ..... had one this week ask for a price so told her same as ur neighbour a tenner she then said can i not go on the round and just call u when they need doing she also mentioned she was getting prices of 2 other windies !!! last year I would have taken her on as just starting out but now more selective on who gets into my round as prefer simple life with no stress  ;D

Gradually by constantly refining the round you can end up in a very good situation. We have all been there, soldiering on with difficult customers. Its amazing how much better you feel once they are gone.

Usually with hindsight there were warning signs, like the only house in the road who didn't have a window cleaner

even worse is the ones who start cleaning the inside window as your doing outside then rubbing glass to check if you missed a bit or its on there side  ::)

i got 1 old lady who going a bit mad when i knock for money always says"£4 for window cleaner" its how she says it as if i dont deserve paying for the job,i try do the job quicker everytime i go as i dont really care if i leave streaks/runs on this bung
