Wallpaper Paste
« on: January 28, 2011, 05:37:42 pm »
Just took a job on for next week that has "bad stains caused by wallpaper paste" according to the customer.

Do you think that these will just extract out using HWE or will it be more problematic?

Thanks

Wayne

Fresh paste - water, dwell, suck, water, dwell, suck, water, dwell, suck
Old stuff that might be there from removing old paper could be slightly more different depending on paper colour and what it was stuck onto.

Could be a brown stain underneath so use some browning prescription.

If the paste has dried in, I would recommend Amtech Zap It. I used it to remove brown (set hard) mastic from a cream polyprop carpet last week. It can also be used for sticky tape marks on carpets and othe gummy residues  ;D

Had loads of this on a poly before and asked the same question on here.

Came out much easier than expected and it had been down at least 6 weeks so properly set.

Try doing just like Neil says.

Steal a cool, modern motif from a piece of wallpaper and cut it out to make easy backing plates for your sconces. They don't have to be exactly the same shape, but they should be the same scale. Patterns with diamonds or squares also work well. Just remove the sconce (be sure to turn off the power first), apply the design, let it dry, and reinstall the sconce. Or use this approach for a chandelier or other ceiling fixture.
