Sounds bad, Bob. My mate had what he thought was tonsillitis, and it turned out to be epiglotitis; which meant if his epiglotis 'flipped over', it would block his airway and he would choke to death.
He was in hospital for three days with a crash team perched by his bed. Their job was to hold him down, while someone performed a tracheotomy (without anaesthetic); basically cutting a hole in his throat and inserting a breathing tube into it; so that he would live.
Pretty scary stuff when you initially thought it was just just tonsillitis, don't you think?
Anyway, I'm sure you'll be fine in a few days, Bob.
