Just got back from my holiday already to work , got infection in elbow and just had to have malaria test got bit  2 weeks ago started feeling ill yesterday.

Malaria is curable if caught early enough.  My mate caught it in Belize and he was okay, though he did seem to have severe flu like symptoms for a while.

But bad news if you need to get back to work after you're all spent up after a holiday.

I've got something similar (tonsillitis) even after having them removed, been feeling bad on and off for about 6 weeks, sore throat and chesty cough, only managed 3 half days work since New Year, hoping penicillin will do the trick, but feeling rough. Hoping it will go and let me start work soon or there'll be some more customers for sale.
