I was looking to employ a friend for Canvassing so someone I know, who can earn a few quid and look for customers. With the end promise that as work grows I may be able to also give them so work helping me out.

I use a canvasser and ive got too  say its the best thing I ever did, I get many new customers commenting on how polite he was etc, his pricing is tops too, your always going too get a few bad custys or houses you wouldnt of canvassed yourself but thats part of the gamble you take, If I lose a customer here and there I dont take the money back as the money I make over the year from the good customers I gain is worth it,
I pay him 1.25x the clean which I give him on the day he canvassed.

Thats really positive news RWC.  Good to know there are some genuine companies, that take a professional approach, suppose there are good and bad in whatever industry.

Its not a company, Me and another forum member use him, he pays his taxes etc and I got him some business cards with his name on so then if he gets any unsure people they got a method of contacting him rather then a number on a bit of paper, we got a good relationship and wont take the p out of each other....

Sounds good, all about having a good working relationship.

Was it somebody that you both knew?

No I sold a pole to a member on this forum who lives about 45 mins away, we kept in contact, he had been using him for a while but was getting too the point where he didnt need him as often a week as he had, so because we arent in competiton with each other, and didnt want the bloke too be losing out on money he rung me and asked if I was interested, so I met up with him at his house had a good chat and he started that week.....

Nice one RWC.

I think the concern is more with organisations etc ripping people off.  But as I was saying earlier, you would be daft to try and offer your services, in such a tight business community, and then proceed to rip people off.  Ive spoken to Richard and he seems a very determined young lad, no intentions of ripping anyone off, very driven, very enthusiastic.  Good for him.  Reminds me when I had enthusiasm for things, lol.
