just got in from the cold fitted the new scrfewfix door mounted  hose reel


i think this will change WFP as we know it , like micro bore, the L5, SLX etc

like the fogwash - i need to come up with a name for my idea - any suggestions ?

easy screws onto back doors freeing up floor space, swivels out if needed, or stays put on back door , build wise , a good bit of kit , easy as good as the normal metal reels that we have all used , one plus , its all metal so no more split spindals when the frost gets to them like we all have had in the past .

Best £33 ive ever spent for work .

I can now see all those supplier's with hose reels - taking them down the scrap man in the morn lol

Is that bolted to the door or screwed on the ply ?

How much hose do you reckon it will hold ?

maybe put one of them rollers if you know what iam talking about.
means you could shut the doors when when working away from van.

i just screwed it into the ply/metal of the door - solid as rock

ive got 60mtr's 6mm micro - easy able to swallow 100mtrs easy

no need - i can shut door's anyway with micro the rubber door lip stops it pinching
I even pulled the hose when one door was shut and the other open , the shut one un reeled still

the hose reel cage is smooth so the hose dosnt get snagged when at a angle - unlike the other metal floor type , they have to be unwound down wind so to speak , or they can catch up - pulling the hose reel right out the van !!

well put it this way i read them to, but upon opening box - i phoned GAV ccc told him to go and get one asap , so what iit rust's in 3 years - buy another for £ 33 lol

 my other £80 ones are rusty as f..K , with no paint on them .
plus they take up space on the floor of the van .
it's nice now to open both doors and just get in the back , without stepping over reels -

anyway buy it try it take it back - screwfix good like that

Great idea jsm and presented in an original and arresting way, unfortunately it won't work long term due to the leverage on the swiveling arm.This arm will fatigue and break in transit due to the weight of water, if it was stronger, or had a brace it would fare better.

My prediction is it will bend, drooping the reel down at first, and eventually sheer. If you can find some way of offering it a bit of support when the van doors are closed it will last better.The load bearing while you are actually working is fine.

As for a name, something short and snappy, i think it should be called a john malone catherine wheel.(less snappy).

To be fair all the bad reviews are from users who have it mounted outside and is subject to lots of rain, and the one bad review who thought the 6mm was restricting flow will not bother anyone using 6mm microbore so it looks good to me.

nice comment slumpy - already got that covered .........  my aim was first to free up space in the back , the swivel part of the reel i am not bothered with ...... as thats why i put it on the rear door's ..... because they open in and out .... so it was my plan in testing in real life wfping to maybe get a few pipe clips to stop the frame being able to swivel ... so killing that prediction dead   lol
