Really annoyed...cancellation
« on: December 30, 2010, 05:54:11 pm »
Just got cancelled by text by someone who has been a 'friend' for literally years.

Apparently needs to save money. Clean was £6.50 every other month. They put on the text that they hoped we didn't mind...  >:(

Anyone else been cancelled by a friend? I've not replied to the text...yet...

Try not to do friends.
I bet that was cheaper than the going rate as well! Don't be cross because if they need to cut back on such a small amount, they could be deeply in the poo

I don't get this - you expect a friend to stay with you forever?

I imagine they just don't want to do it face to face. Damn, some people end relationships by txt. They're probably just a bit embarrassed - people are short at the moment, especially after Xmas.

BIG saving £3.25 a month, ask them if they want a bit of part time work at the weekends as they have fallen on hard times, cleaning your van, sweeping out the garage. Those sort of excuses make me laugh the most and by text as well.as form b says plenty of glass out there

I would not care if i got cancelled by a friend, Its fair enough if they want to save money, That goes for any of my customers, It may only be £6.50, but they are probably cutting back on a lot more of the non essentials. Window cleaning is a luxury, not a necessity, I have a 'friend' who owes me 3 x cleans, total 21 quid, i am not falling out with him over it, Just cleaning has stopped until payment, I should of known better really as he is always crap with money. But he works as a boiler engineer for british gas, so he can owe me a favour  ;)

Agree with not doing friends windows, or neighbours, no more in future.

PS The house was worth a tenner - minimum.

Why don't you go and see them and beg them to take you back on .............. tell them how desperate you are for their £6.50.  ::) ::)

I do a little bit of work for friends but not much.  I do them under totally different conditions from my business though.  Either I do them FOC as and when I feel like it OR, if they are paying, I just tell them to let me know when they want them done and I will fit them in when I can.  We are talking about once or twice a year at most.  That way, silly things like a few bits of glass don't get in the way of friendship.  I have quite a few customers.  I don't have many friends.  I don't use the word friends loosely either.  I'm talking about the sort of people who have let me use their sofa when I was to ill to look after myself properly/collected me from hospital after minor surgery or given me the keys for their house when they were away.  The occasional free window clean for people like that really is no hardship and furthermore, it's not even expected of me.
Years ago someone said to me "If you do something for someone else, expect nothing in return.  That way you don't get hurt."  I've also seen in AA stuff about doing things for others but not getting found out or it doesn't count.

So people that want to save money cannot cancel ANYTHING if it's below a certain amount. Use you head mate - if people want to save they cancel everything that isn't needed... window cleaning, sky subscription, newspapers etc..

If they want to cancel it's there choice. You don't own a customer and they don't owe you a living. Some people... n ::)

i dont reply to any text like that.  sometime them cancelling is a knee jerk reaction to a sudden bill ,penny saving, but sure-as-the-sunrise those windows will be looking bad in the spring sunshine and they could well  be begging you to return. but if your like me ,YOU NEVER LOOK BACK . i learned this with various women, life experiences. NEVER go back

Why don't you try and turn a negative into a positive. I doubt it's a PERSONAL ATTACK.

Send him a message back saying "No problems mate. I know how it is. If you push a customer my way I'll bung you a fiver for each one, would really be appreciated!"

Same as others on here for me I don't do friends houses. They expect something for nothing. My next door neighbour is a plumber and hes always getting collered by the neighbours to have a look at whatever is wrong at theirs houses. I can imagine they expect the work done on the cheap too.
