The water has been cut off here too today due to burst pipes everywhere,..
It's on the news that every pipe has burst, the helpline is jammed, some people have been without water for six days, and Martin Mcguiness is on the case.Sounds a bit dire.
I blame the builders,.. its simply shoddy workmanship. All water pipes should be buried 4' down or deeper, that way the frost will never get to them.I used to lay water mains & this was something all the old boys used to say on every job,.. but the regs don't require it & the builders won't pay to dig deeper than they have to,....

Everything is done to "minimum" code these days, which is in many cases, not sufficient enough.
our water in east belfast went off yesterday at 6pm and came on at 4pm todayso i filled the van 650 ltrs, just as well, its off again 9pm.water board has asked not to wash cars , how do i stand ?
For the next week or so we've been told we'll only have water for 3 hours a day,.. repair crews are apparently fixing broken water mains, but I haven't seen anyone digging up the roads....

why have all the pipes burst, it wasnt that cold in belfast was it?it was -18 in UK last weeek
