I got out to work today , first day since 15 dec, but when i came home and went to fill tank for tomorrow ,what did i find ,no water!!, so might not get out tomorrow because off drought.
 by the way i live in belfast.

I blame the builders,.. its simply shoddy workmanship. All water pipes should be buried 4' down or deeper, that way the frost will never get to them.

I used to lay water mains & this was something all the old boys used to say on every job,.. but the regs don't require it & the builders won't pay to dig deeper than they have to,....

On a local basis - as in my back garden in Bristol - my feed to my R/O fractured in two places. The metal pipe outside the back door pushed out of its fitting and the plastic pipe up the garden fractured at an elbow joint under the patio steps.

So yesterday was spent fixing that and I have just come in for a late brekky after testing and starting my R/O up. Fortunately I still have 300L left in my storage tank for a block of flats this afternoon.

Water regs  require main pipework to buried 750mm minimum, which is about 2 1/2 feet.

our water in east belfast went off yesterday at 6pm and came on at 4pm today
so i filled the van 650 ltrs, just as well, its off again 9pm.

Have you got an RO that can produce enough pure in 3 hours for a day's work?  If not, I suppose you can produce as much as you can, mix it with some tap water, and use resin to bring the TDS to 0.  Pretty wasteful of resin but better than no work I suppose.
Are the authorities giving out bottled water for drinking?

I mean when you look at English canals and tunnels, they're a testament to the Paddies being good with a shovel.

I sometimes think that if the coal mines were in Ireland, rather than in 'lazy Wales', we'd still have a thriving coal mining industry.
