ok, what I wrote may sound short and harsh so let me explain
Firstly I bought a clx 27 to fill the void between using a 18ft harris diy pole and my extel hybrid 40ft.
I've had it a couple of months and its used daily and has replaced my harris pole and the need to use the 40ft except for the occasions that the height warrants it , so thats great.
So far two clamps have come unstuck, no problem I bought epoxy resin and fixed them. Then the thread stripped from one of the barrel adjustment nuts, gardiners were good enough to send me some spares on request but that did mean 3 days without using the pole. Clamps seem to need adjustments and tinkering with daily else sections spin.
The brush seems to unscrew itself from the pole quite a lot and so I've fixed that with plumbers tape on the thread.
As others have said the end cap keeps falling off, fixed that too with some gaffa tape.
Now its really cold the hose is rubbish, is slow , annoying and pita to use, gets tangled on absolutely everything including itself, has to be without doubt the worst hose I have ever used, gardiners really needs to address this
Superlight brushes have imo superlight scrubbing power, vikan sill is king but maybe thats just a personal preferance. So many of you seem to think stick superlight in the title makes it the best, "it must be great coz it only weighs about the same as a stick of candy floss" half the weight but twice the price, its just a brush for goodnes sake and not a particlarly good one
i've tried a couple of super lites
both had no splay and the stock looled like it was made from recycled plastic
compare to a vikan, quality the super lite is a tatty brush that takes longer to clean
all hot air, fancy name and marketing to sells that for £35.00 nothing else
anyone can tell as soon as you see it it made in china
for about £0.50p - £1.50p
Agree with that entirely !
My extel hybrid is now 3 years old, has it suffered any of these problems or needed much servicing in that time ? NO, clamps are great by far the most ergonomic and maintenance free I've ever used, never stripped a thread, never come unstuck, streamline lite 5 hose remains supple even in cold weather, far superior.
CLX is cheaper than similar length extel hybrid by quite a bit which is why I bought it but I can see why now, its a bit lighter too but at the cost of rigidity and durability. Gardiners customer service has never been in question, they go that extra mile that other supliers dont.
BUT I stand by what I say, crap brushes, crap hoses, crap clamps and crap glue because thats my experience, they are an innovative company, always pushing forward and so maybe Alex will read this and take it onboard. Its customer feedback afterall, negative maybe but constructive.
