If i had £2000 to start? Few questions
« on: December 17, 2010, 02:12:45 pm »
Hey  ;D
Im hoping to start up next year but wondering what van i should buy. (im thinking Citroen Berlingo?)
What system i should use for starting up. Somone mentioned a trolly system witch sounds good to me, or am i wrong?  ;D
and also what size tank i should buy and where to buy a tank that fits the van propperly?.

And i also dont know about pure water? do i just fill the tank with tap water then the trolly system changes it to pure, or am i totaly wrong?  :-\
Thank you

(also a big thanks to the people that answered on my other topic, v big help, thanks =D)

hi

you will have lots of questions and the best thing you can do at the moment is read all the old posts this will take you many hours but about every question you will have will have been answered at some point on here, there is allot of dribble but also very good advice.
but to give a short answer
Van your thinking off, seems ok
system you want, trolly is ok and has its place but i would recommend a van mount system
As for your pure water  no you cant just fill your tank up with tap water and the trolly will change it. You need to know what your tap water TDS is this will decide what system you will need DI or a RO system if its very low i believe around under 60ppm then a DI vessle should be fine if its higher then that you will need an RO system else it would start getting expensive to make your water.
As for tank size for a sole trader with your size of van your looking at i would say 350-400lt one basically you want the biggest tank your van can handle.
But before you even think of any of that have you got customers to use it on if not that should be your main priority, maybe even use traditional methods for a while as you need this skill even with a wfp system.

Id recomend a brodex hydra alumininium 18ft pole to start off there £95 + VAT, there not the lightest pole but the're very robust I use one for my every day pole cant fault it, also has a 3yr guaruntee.

Id start of with a trolley you can easily adapt it to run a van mount then detach it from your van and put a barrel on and use as a trolley if needed, I use the 25ltr pure freedom trolley.

Also be careful of the pay load on what ever van you get weight soon mounts up.

You can buy my old Hi-ace with a tank fitted, would need the RO & Other bits as it's been used as a donkey system.

I've heard some horror stories about Brodex, read some back posts. As for very reliable, I had a mate who had a 250 from them. In one year he was back over to them two or three times to get bits replaced.

dnt by theses plastic white crap, they look and priduce pure poop not water....

Not sure what that means. If you mean DIY ie sourcing the parts yourself, I prefer that any day. I did that and have spare parts. If anything goes wrong I know enough about the system to replace whatever is broken and not have to trip over to Liverpool or where ever they are based and lose a mornings work.

Oh, and personally I think 250lt is too small for anything other than a mornings work.
