Giving good advice is often a matter of stating common sense, and it can affect people in different ways.
Some ask advice on things that they should have figured out for themselves, you can often be resented for stating the obvious, because the person who asked feels a little stupid when the obvious is pointed out to him. They won't thank you for this because their self esteem has been diminished. I guess it's just human nature.

Having used a Harris pole daily, and Recommending them on here to others including ground hog, I would be interested to hear the criteria for becoming a Harris, or any other mass produced pole expert.

Vin,.. if I ever got info off you & didn't say thanks, I now apologise profusely!

And to everyone knocking Slumpy, a little respect is deserved here,... he was the first person on here (perhaps in the country) to have a DIY gas fired water heater for his wfp van, over 4 years ago if i remember right,.. and how many of you all are scrambling to get one now??!!

Oh, i (and sure others) have the utmost respect for clive and all his previous carnations. But when you see that ego bubble floating off unmolested, into the distance - the urge to get the pea shooter out is too irresistable a moment to pass by.
Anyway, no harm done - cos you know another one will come along soon.  :)

I can never tell when Slumpy is being serious or not. I do still insist though that he does heavily underestimate common sense! ;)

Gav cam lammy, it's classic because he stated how annoyed he was helping ingrates and saying never again and  you jump in and ask ask him for the info, and don't see any irony.

Dai, my calling groundhog the harris expert meant no harm. He was it's greatest champion, explainer, and u tube film chronicler.I believe he deleted over it in the end.

My favourite expert for inventions is joe uk. He makes me smile. One day i'll see him on dragons den and i'll choke on my cornflakes.

The best teacher was wally.

I read a book- how to become rich- by felix dennis britains richest man.He has no friends, has never married, and writes poems on an idyllic island that he owns.He wants to be remembered as a poet. The point being that he sees himself differently to  how others do.Getting back to talking about myself because i'm sure mark wouldn't want it any other way, i have floated three huge ideas on here. You can count them, hot, that was one, electric reel two, and my marketing masterstroke three. Not everyone wants hot water, or good reels, or even lots of custies. For the most part people assume they already do it the best way and reject
my advice/ideas.The temptation for me, is to astound and i could if i wanted, but i won't.

He deserves no respect here. He's advocating his actions of not imparting information and effectivley operating his own secrect society, tells us he's an expert and then asks simple questions himself. I couldn't care less if he invented water. He's nothing more than a simple forum annoyance who is full of his own greatness.

slumpy you have to admit mike has a point, you posted here you are three years ahead etc, but on another post you said you have given up until the new year and you are three weeks behind, and on another post you asked how to defrost a transfer hose ???

make your mind up are you ahead of everyone or are the thousands of w/c that will be working this week ahead of you?

Hi Stu,

Yes all true. That makes you right. And i think any crits of me are often quite mild. IE i get off lightly, after all yours and mike's comments were not rancourous. But let me answer your question with another.

If you were faced with daytime temperatures of minus six and the coldest december in a century would you;

A. Clean windows by starting later and making the best fist of things you could.

Or

B.Concentrate on your other business, which just happens to be selling hats, gloves, scarves ,neck warmers, thermal underwear, heat holder socks etc.The combination of the coldest december in a century and a knock on from the credit crunch being major retailers being ill prepared and understocked has led to unprecendented demand and sales

I'm working seven days a week twelve hours a day- just not cleaning windows at the mo.

I will be doing A but I will start at the usual time and finish when I am finished ;)

and if you really want to make money on a stall add snow shovel and rock salt to your list ;)
