trad polers
« on: December 09, 2010, 09:32:10 pm »
Been practicing with trad pole and vice versa, doing fine on narrow windows that only require 2 down pulls. Its the big wide windows that i am having trouble with, cant seem to get them as good. Any tips would be greatly received. Not too bothered about tips about getting another wfp set up cheers in advance ;)

Start at left hand side of window and go along the top and down the right hand side straight down, repeat again and again getting closer to left hand side, then finish with blade straight down,

Been doing that keeping blade at a slight angle so you dont get a blade line on the right hand side of the blade. Wondered if it had anything to do with if i had mopped up window too much and the blade was flooded.
Ill keep trying :)

The vice versa is quite bulky is the wagtail lighter?

bang the blade on a soapy part of window between pulls as it shakes of the soap and you will be fine

Much much lighter hardly know you are using it and because it swivels it goes in the corners all you do is twist your wrist it turns itself

good for indoor sky lights as the pad stop the water dripping down

soap up the window(dont use too much water or soap) but leave a 1 inch gap at the top.

feather the top left hand edge with the squeegee and angle it and run along the top edge until you reach the right hand side then pull down, tap squeegy on wall or dry window and keep blading the soap off the window at a slight angle.finish by detailing top edge.

this way you DONT leave lines down the glass and NO runs from the top edge!!

hope this helps mate.ive got this down to a fine art and can do it fast with a backflip on suitable windows with excellent results.i have been doing it for years though!! ;) ;D ;D

Wfp for me was overkill. My prices were for glass cleaned and cills wiped, very quickly. Park up in morning return at dinner or at end of day. At start of day i fill my bucket check ive got fairy, cloths and my sidekick and im off. Every week buy a bottle of fairy and change my rubber. new set of ladders every few years. Minimal overheads!

Wfp was hastle, filling, refilling , emptying, van moving, resin, poles, hoses and my custies get the benefits. They get there frames cleaned. The majority hated it some told me before i returned to trad but most told me after. Sure i put my prices up but for me to justify all the hastle they would have to go up £2or£3. Im glad you get on with it mate but it doesnt suit me and my rounds.

Don't do what I once did though.  The place had a vibration activated alarm fitted.

Oops !!!
