Anyone got a Merlin? Help needed!!
« on: December 08, 2010, 03:23:40 pm »
Found out this morning that filter housings had all cracked. So was looking in my other shed and there was an almost complete new merlin that was minus the pre-filter and housing. So Ive spent the entire afternoon putting this new one together. All pushfits and pressure gauge no probs. The thing thats driving me crazy is putting the filters and housing together. (yes sounds easy) and it should be. But problem is the housings get to about half an inch from from the casing and wont tighten no more.
Any ideas appreciated.

It's prob the friction from the rubber seals.

Put a tiny amount of fairy liquid on the seal and it should glide on.

Have had this problem myself, this fixed it and did no damage to filters / membranes

Also make sure you've got the filters / membranes right in the centre.

Cheers its sorted now. I did that lubrication thing. But found it a lot easier to tighten up using the spanner from the housing.
All we need now is some good temps.

Soz I didn't realise housing leg doubled up as a spanner. Wouldn't have known that if thing hadn't froze up.
