Sending out xmas cards to custys
« on: December 07, 2010, 05:55:42 pm »
Been thinking about doing it since i started my new round this summer

The idea was to post all my current customers a Christmas card wishing the best for new year too.

I thought it would be a good idea because it will show them that i care about my customers and all the rest of it Christmas spirit and so on.

The good sides i thought was they will like my gesture and wish to keep me established with them as no other window cleaner may have sent them a card, basically if my milk man gave me a Christmas card personally i would like it because it will show me that he values me.

Thing is thou i was thinking about possible backfires

1)I dont want customers to feel that i am asking for a tip they might think this is the reason i am sending them a Christmas card my intention of sending these cards are not to remind them to tip me its going to be sent after my last cleans this year basically i hope they wouldnt feel uncomfortable??

2)was not sure if i should send it to Mrs xxx or Mrs xxx and family Mrs xxx and family would sound alot better but is it getting to friendly??

3)Ive cleaned my new customers since the summer time so some monthlys would be 6 cleans other 2 monthlys 3 cleans some will be on the 2nd clean
so is it too soon too perfect?? i dont want them to think oh so his prices are reasonable his work is good he looks professional and now he is sending us a Christmas card? whats next an Easter Egg? "i think ill cancel"

Things are running smooth right now... is it a good idea? has anyone done it before? i am being a bit paranoid it proberly will be fine.

To me it does sound like a nice gesture its just i very carefully built my round up and i dont wana confuse customers in anyway. As you all know sometimes its silly things that can make them cancel like reminding them that they have a window cleaner and by me sending them a Christmas card might remind them how much they are paying me lol

This simple post is already too long i better stop it now any thoughts pls thankyou!

I've been giving out Christmas cards since yesterday, and aim to get them all out to my custies by the end of next week as I clean their windows. The rest will be posted.

I think it's pretty acceptable to receive a Christmas card from any company you do business with on a regular basis.

I'd be pretty shocked if any of my customers were offended by me giving them a Christmas card. The only thing really is to consider is whether or not your customer celebrates Christmas. If your unsure send them a 'Seasons Greetings' card instead.

I've addressed my cards to the person I mainly deal with. If I've built a good rapport with the custy, i'll address it as To John and family, however, I've played it safe with a few eg To Mr and Mrs Smith.

At the end of the day, businesses send Christmas cards to advertise, and thank customers for their business.

imho it's no big deal , i think the majority of custy's would just think(if at all) "seems like a nice lad"
If truth be told I don't think anyone really thinks about the window cleaner.

Just my opinion

but you do seem like a nice chap  ;D

We have given out x-mas cards every year - never been a problem, it doesn't matter if the they
have been we us 2 years or 2 months - cards are given out after custy pays so if they wanted to tip
they would have done so, it's all done to promote the company and personal touch - besides inside the
card is the latest customer newsletter and there nexct clean date  ;D

Most cards are addressed to Mr & Mrs    XXXXX  and family - if they prefer first names then it's   Kelly and family...

etc....

The more you stand out from the crowd the more custy's remember you and more likely to reccomend

Good thinking...customer service is king!

Thing is thou i was thinking about possible backfires

don't think into your actions so much "basically if my milk man gave me a Christmas card personally i would like it because it will show me that he values me" if you think like this then your custies will too!

2)was not sure if i should send it to Mrs xxx or Mrs xxx and family Mrs xxx and family would sound alot better but is it getting to friendly??

Would just sign "Season Greetings from Bob Your window cleaner/business name"3)

Ive cleaned my new customers since the summer time so some monthlys would be 6 cleans other 2 monthlys 3 cleans some will be on the 2nd clean
so is it too soon too perfect?? i dont want them to think oh so his prices are reasonable his work is good he looks professional and now he is sending us a Christmas card? whats next an Easter Egg? "i think ill cancel"
Never too soon to show your appreciate their custom

I did send them out when I started my business but the last time I posted them out about 3 years ago Eastenders did a story about the Asian postman (cant remember his name) did that and his wife accused him of doing it for tips!!! this was the day AFTER i sent them out.
I didnt send them out again but I think a friendly smile and a nice polite attitude to your customer throughout the year goes further and is alot cheaper. Also it helps you to enjoy your day more if you are happy and friendly.
But if you do still want to send them out, pop down to your local Tescos after Xmas and you can buy them for a fraction of the price and use them next year. Last time I bought them I got  packs of cards for 90% off. seriously!!
