I've used ladders in the snow many times and never had any problems.  But anything that looks the slightest bit dodgy and I miss the window and reduce the price.

I am quite confident with ladders but still unsure.  I have the round feet on mine would they help?  If it is still like this on Monday I am going out regardless.

ive never used ladders with round feet so cant say.

Im building my rounds and im always reliable so ill be out no matter what the weather.

Ive had a lot of success canvassing recently and turning up in all weather goes to further reiterate the point to the customer on my reliability.

If i cant clean the tops i just clean the bottoms and reduce the price while still making a profit.

Having said that some on the forum are struggling to get out the house which isnt good.

If you cant clean any before christmas take a walk around anyway and explain why your not coming and wish them a merry christmas you may still get your tips

dont trust ANY mat under your ladder. i trusted a Laddermat on a smooth surface and it slipped out on me and this was before winter . ive never tried a coconut matting and  i never will.

but i do trust ladder spikes.i used them last winter with no problems at all

Well i went out today for the first day this week and.........it realy wasnt that bad. If i was unsure of any slippery ground i didnt put my ladder up, simple! Today i told custies that i couldnt do a couple of window because of the conditions and they were fine. Most of them paid me the full price and said i deserve it for going out in this weather  i made as much money as usual so all in all i realy good day

I am just worried that if I have a slip that I will get injured then I will be buggered.

So in normal snow the ladders do not slip?

Are you mad using ladders in the snow.  It only takes one slip and you could be lying there all day in someones back garden.  I need the money badly but would rather have my health than a bad injury.  I am going to buy a pole and start to practice BUT most of my customers are fussy and want a good job every time (that is the way I have built my round).  Also do not think they will be happy if as soon as you clean them it is snowing straight onto them.

Where I am they have not forcast anymore snow and actual sun, so it may melt away.  I just worry as I am on my own and i do have a slip that I could be lyng there for hours.

i would cherry pick my easiest jobs like i did wednesday

made 100 in a few hours doing easy accounts like pubs, bungs etc

but by yesterday just had to get stuck in as i need the money, got too much going out to sit back and watch it snow, there was 2 of us but we were only a little slower than would be normally, wore loads of layers and my walking boots so i didnt slip etc, just made sure ladder was dug in, on grass where poss, if not then footed and just worked away , did 6 hours and earned ok, i have had worse weeks than this this year money wise so i am chuffed, although i have wimped out of today gonna do tomorrow instead

It doesn't seem like a few months that we had a tough Winter earlier this year.

I've been on ladders all week and will continue to do so today; I can't be bothered with any faffing around to be honest.

And we're lucky here in SE Wales; it's nothing like as bad as what I've seen on the TV.

At the moment, the problem is more about geting to the jobs than about the cleaning.  Ladders and screenwash are fine if you take appropriate safety measures with the ladder.  It's managing to travel that is the issue.
