Im sick of sitting in so even if its -10 tomorrow im going out! If the water starts freezing im going old school with 2 microfibres if i have to! Rant over

mate... trad pole and screen wash if the waters freezing on the glass!

but as some have said on here it might be freezing outside but the glass isnt due to central heating

tried today with heating on and it froze almost straight away and also froze were it landed on the front door step

blue monkey yes i phoned him popping round next time im out that way i just e mailed you as i only just got my internet back ive tried 3 propertys now and its froze on all of them plus the slight leaks i have that drips out the van is freezing too i keep a heater in the van so that dont freeze

its cold where i am, but no snow,  got a leak on van which is turning in to a ickle becasue i left the van in the same sopt of over  a week,  put all my gear back in today,  going to fill up wit hot in morning, as got a hotel to do,  other than that think the week is over

Just keep a bag of grit in the back of the van and just chuck it around after you are done??

I wouldn't recommend spraying anti-freeze every where as if i remember rightly it can be pretty harsh stuff for plants and animals.

But there is an enviromently friendly one which is if i remember orange rather than blue

I wouldn’t mess around with a traditional window cleaning pole, you just can’t clean those upstairs window properly.

Place the top of your ladder under the upstairs window sill for grip and place the bottom of your ladder on an upside down coconut mat.

Try it yourself before you go out cleaning. There is no way you can move that mat.

i dont agree mate!you can do an adequate job with a trad pole if you ve had plenty of practice(i have!)you need a new rubber on ya squeegee and a bone dry microfibre in a clamp for the detailing.

it will take you slightly longer than using ladders but it will allow you to earn IF the water doesnt freeze before you squeegee off!(it can even with screenwash in!)

also an angle adaptor on ya pole is essential to get to the bottom of windows with deep ledges or if the angle is steep.

Many of my customers are very particular, and if they are paying good money to a window cleaner, who is already pushing it by turning up when it’s snowing, then I know they will be expecting all the frames and definitely all the sills to be cleaned each time.

I think that’s very difficult to do with a trad pole.

yeh i agree to a point pal but if it goes into a second week or even third week are you going to take 3 weeks off before xmas?


if its only the once to take you past this bad spell then i can see it can be done.i did a few half days in the snow in jan to keep me ticking over and no complaints whatsoever!

its not ideal but a last resort!

Lets hope we aren't heading for another winter like we had in 1962/63 in the near future, 16 weeks of snow from December to March.

It doesn't seem like a few months that we had a tough Winter earlier this year.

I've been on ladders all week and will continue to do so today; I can't be bothered with any faffing around to be honest.

And we're lucky here in SE Wales; it's nothing like as bad as what I've seen on the TV.

Same here tosh in st helens.
Its been snowing and still trying but i was out yesturday and the snow hadnt fully frozen so ive got away with using the ladders.

I dont know what its like in other areas of the north west but its not as bad as yorkshire and the east coast where i am.

If it does get really slippery ill be out but cleaning only the bottom windows at a discount price until i could get back on the ladders

Are you mad using ladders in the snow.  It only takes one slip and you could be lying there all day in someones back garden.  I need the money badly but would rather have my health than a bad injury.  I am going to buy a pole and start to practice BUT most of my customers are fussy and want a good job every time (that is the way I have built my round).  Also do not think they will be happy if as soon as you clean them it is snowing straight onto them.
