faulty oreck orbiter
« on: November 24, 2010, 03:51:31 pm »
Hi all,

does anyone with a bit of technical knowledge know if my orbiter has had its day

used it today and it started to smoke and after a while the thermal cut out switch cuts it off for a while.

It definitley is getting hot and making a high pitched noise but still actually spinning freely. when it cold down it works fine again for a minute or so.

I wonder whether too much dust has got into it, its only about 2 years old and not had lots of use so would like to repair it if poss,

Would be grateful for any tips

Cheers
Steve

Sounds like the death throes............screaming is usualy metal on metal which tends to mean it's past repair.

I think these little machines are used for tasks that are beyond their capability by many c/c's They are really domestic grade and fine for stairs but to use them daily for aggitation is stretching the imagination.

I wrecked a couple a few years ago when experimenting with various products on carpets.
