Been out so missed it, but I'm guessing it's nothing we didn't already know.
End result, I'm guessing that yet again that nothing will actually be done about it.
I lost faith in that programme after what happened with that crowd in Bournemouth.

I bet it wasn't. It would more than likely have been 'upselling' protector at a hidious price but not actually applying it.

Nearly right...it was basically selling suites, with a fabric protection applied at the custies request, that CANNOT be treated with a protector as it will ruin the fabric. So guess that means they don't treat them at  all and still charge the poor unsuspecting custie. Also they went into to the "flimsy" insurance details aswell. EG if you want to make a claim, but don't report the "spillage" quick enough, then you are not covered etc etc.

What they were saying was that certain sofas could not be treated due to a mix of fabric/leather etc.

They could of course protect these but its too fiddly a procedure to just protect the fabric, hence why they dont do it.

And of course as we all (should) know, any fabric can be protected so long as the right protectors are used! But again as they only use a water based protector it cannot be applied to viscose suites.

Basically they dont protect them half the time due to these and other issues (hey they cannot work it out and would be too confusing for staff) as they know there is an insurance policy anyway so bobs your uncle.

Did you also know that they sell the same policy's for leather too? They of course cannot be 'protected' but still sell them as such. This aspect wasnt covered at all, which is even worse than the main part of the programme.

The warranty companies do a 'dry warranty' for suites that protector is not suitable ie yor still covered wthout protector being applied. It is an insurance policyat the end of the day.

Yep, true Mike. However, salesmen still sell the warranty cover on leather saying that the leather is 'protected' against spills. Yes the warranty does, but not the actual leather!

I should know as I bought 2 sofas from there earlier in the year - and they pushed it saying this. Of course I told them where to go.

Personally I think they should do an instore sting just on this as a follow up.

DFS salemen and the likes will tell you absoltutely anything to get a sale.

go in and ask about protector on leather, then ask if it will stop dye transfer, they will say yes. then go back 6 months later after purchase and complain about dye transfer, only to be told that it doesn't cover dye transfer, your word against theres, "i never said that" would be there defence.

thats from one of my customers, i told her to send a friend in with a tape recorder and ask the same question. never found out wether she did or not.

Totally agree- thats why I recommended years ago to the retailers I protct or to ditch the warantyside of it and offer protecto for what it is .
