dodgy previous wc ...

picked up a small commercial job .... the last chap was writting out an invoice on scraps of paper.

it said:

window cleaner.

windows cleaned

£10.00+vat .....

thing is the chap wasnt vat reg and was just doing it to make a few more quid...

not sure to be honest - just got the info off the new customer who told me as he found this out from another job he was doing ...

a lot of wc are dodgy, and only work for beer money,  i have two lads recently come looking for work,  who cant even read or write, >:(,  but want to work as think it is easy as it must be great with all that cash in hand work

seems he been doing this on all jobs. so making 17.5% more on each job and soon to be 20%

he isnt makeing it unless he says he is vat registered and isnt,  if he is doing that then he will get screwed over from the vat man for it

You don't have to be VAT registered until you are turning over £70k a year or more

think about it.

no name on his invoice - so cant be traced by that.

getting paid cash in hand for small local businesses ...

so he charges the customer £10 + vat, where as he should be charging just £10

re-think about it,      if any customer has paid him by cheque he can be traced.

good for him charging vat as well,I left my invoice book at home once and they wanted a receipt on the back of an envelope but put my name and phone number on.you have to laugh  :P

if the company is prepare to accept a scrap piece of paper as a receipt, no name or address then more fool them

good point - coz a vat invoice has a vat number on - so these comm custies aint too bright either.  :P

Sounds like the guy wouldn' be able to work the vat out anyway :P
