Publicity tip of the year.
« on: November 11, 2010, 10:14:27 pm »
If you want some free publicity for your business then read on. Raise some money for your local Hospice, dogs home etc, then when your about to present the cheque phone your local paper to come and take some pictures. But make sure your van is shown in the picture and your business name is mentioned in the write up. Loads of business's do it round here so think I'll be doing a bungee jump sometime soon for my own publicity.

A lot of businesses don't want publicity for that type of thing as it could look like that you were only after the publicity in the first place

You should be doing it for cause of the charity not to promote your business,Like frankybadboy has sponsors squares on his shirt and the money goes to a good cause maybe Klean07 could sponsor frankybadboy and show his business is not just after free advertising

In this day and age where money is tight. The smaller charities don't get a look in so if I can raise £500 by asking my custies to sponsor me then whats wrong with my local hospice having £500 donated by my business. After all my custies are my business. I'll be the one thats got to lose the weight, the Hospice gets the cash and if I get some publicity from it then thats a bonus.
If every individual whether it be joe public or a business thought like this then these local charities wouldn't be in the mess they are.

Im doing a sponsored cycle next year through Kerala, India. Its a 10 day event for which IVe started training.

My take on it is tts easy to hide a bad motive behind a good one, I would be most reluctant to sponsor anyone who was so blatantly using a stunt for personal gain.

Giving should be private thing.
When we give we should not be wishing to gain anything, apart from a good feeling inside.

All this sponsoring great or small only shows that the great British public, are fed up with giving and have to be badgered a little more to loosen their tight fists. :o

I`ve thought about advertising on the side of hearses.
People stop and look when they pass don`t they? And they drive them really slowly, so you get the chance to note the advertising and number.
In return for the advertising, I would donate tissues to the bereaved families at a time when they need them the most.
Free of charge of course....with all my details printed on them.
Cleanliness is next to Godliness  ;).

Sore point methinks.

If your going to do something for charity dont let your personal ammbitions become embroiled in it.

I wont be when I do my charity bike ride next year.
